I blv (who cares how I type that doesnt make me less intelligent) that God put us on this earth to love and care for one another and all we are doing with this world is destroying what God gave us. We dont have any love or kindess or Mercy or Care for anyone anymore. I respect everyones oppinion on her but not when you insult me...I didnt insult you I was just doing a Dane Cook thing and u know what if you cant just accept that than maybe you guys are the ones who cant just let someone blv what they want to blv. Not me

As a Christian your statement missed three important items:
Love
Mercy
Hope
Great job of giving the atheists another reason to mock Christians

We Atheists are logical thinkers. I realized long ago that god cannot exist. There is no guy up in the clouds looking down on my every move. Religion was created years and years ago when there were no police to control people from doing harm. God was made up to control people and religion was created to make money as well. Priests back in the day used to say "give me 5 sheep and a bag of grain and I will forgive your sins". In ancient times, this was an easy way to make financial gains--scare people into believing.
It is 2007. We are logical thinkers and I know there is not a god up there, nor is heaven or hell waiting for me when I die. Most people are realizing this every day. That is why there are more Atheists than ever right now! I respect your beliefs, but I think you are wasting your time praying and spending hours in a church.

First of all, you are not texting a message.
Learn to communicate in proper English. Unless you want to look like a lazy illiterate 12 year old.
So you are saying that you believe in Christianity because it offers hope of an afterlife?
Why not worship Ra? You get an afterlife and you can take all your stuff with you. Why not worship Odin? Valhalla is one constant party.
A false hope is worth nothing. All you have is a weak version of Pascal's wager, and that was not worth anything in the first place.
If you want to devote your life to a vague and almost defiantly forlorn hope, go right ahead. But do not be surprised when people around you chose to see the world as it really is and take a different path.

Are you kidding, you actually used Dane Cook as an authority on religion. Did you also buy the part about the only way to stay happily married until old age is to cheat. You might not understand this but what Dane said is what we in the 21st century call a joke.
And to answer your first question I will retort with my own beliefs. One of the first ideas in Buddhism is "Right understanding" or to attempt to understand the world rather than simply have faith in scriptures or revelations.
The second step on the eight fold path will probably be to much for you,
"Right Thoughts involve the idea of placing the principle of renunciation above material indulgence, thinking well of people rather than thinking badly about them, and thoughts of peace rather than of violence or cruelty."

I don't believe in reincarnation.Do you get the idea that an atheists believe they will be reincarnated? I for one do not,so your generalization is incorrect. My opinion of all religions is the same, that they are man made constructs, made to ease the fear of death. I single Christianity out on this forum a lot, because, not so much that I wish Christians to stop believing, but I wish they would stop trying to manipulate the education system and politics as they do in the US.Besides,I don't think a tree really gives a crap if it is cut down or not,so,if I DO come back as a tree, you will be welcome to cut me down.I won't mind.

What is this, text messaging? Can't you spell out the word "believe"?
"Christianity" offers faith in fairy tales as an anesthetic for the contemplation of one's mortality. We don't like the idea that we're going to die, but we all know it's inevitable; so we invent an "Afterlife" in which we'll all be immortal. Our sense of outrage at the apparent indifference of Nature to the human concept of justice then compels us to partition our invented Afterlife into the neighborhoods of "Heaven" and "Hell," in the former of which we'll be eternally rewarded for our righteousness, while our enemies will be tortured eternally in the latter for their transgressions against us.
So it's perfectly clear, to sober, rational thought, how all these superstitions evolved, and why they remain popular in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
But some people will not be pawned off with mythological soporifics. Some people would rather accept reality for what it is, even if it contains elements that appear harsh or unfair from the human perspective, than apply glosses to reality in order to make it more palatable.

Because I don't believe in the image of the christian god - christians call me atheist. I am more Stoic - in that I believe in a Divine intelligent mind - which seems to be absent in christianity.
I don't care what happens after death, I will be resting.
I care about the here and now.

Actually it is some christians who believe "That the world is doomed and we will all die" or have you not heard of the rapture.
Christianity offers false hope but that is what some people need to be able to live their lives.I just wish they would leave me alone to live my life how I see fit.

Hah im neither. besides the undeniable fact that think of roughly it. what's faith? its the persons beleif. who is conscious if any of it is extremely genuine? yet i beleive and you beleive in something. Christians will communicate approximately Jesus, Muslims communicate approximately allah, Jews communicate approximately juda, Hindus communicate approximately bagwan, ect.... if your asserting that if somebody provides a sturdy adequate reason to transform you will, then how are you even a real atheist? its YOUR beleif, and that's the element. there a hundreds of thousands of different beleifs obtainable and you persist with yours. you could exchange in case you desire, yet i propose idk... its something you need to confirm.. no one else provides you you reasons to stay or to no longer because of the fact it has to come again from withtin you..
