dvd & mp3 recorder is there a single machine that will record both dvd and/or mp3 format?

You're very confused. MP3 is a file format, NOT a type of CD. An "MP3 CD" or "MP3 DVD" is just a regular data CD or DVD that happens to contain MP3s.
