Yep, I wanted to see what the hype was about.

Yes I have. It was hard to watch but absolutely essential for some that cannot fathom what he went thru. The torture was so evident but of course not as long as Christ actually endured it as the movie only lasted a couple hours and change. It was extreme just in that short period of time. Compound that by 40 times and that's what he went thru for us. It's to show gratitude and to remember what he did so we could have eternal life in heaven with him. It was a good movie, for all it did and my heart was heavy, I cried but I also felt extremely thankful and really remembered that Grace and how undeserving we are of our salvation. All it takes is believing in him and what he did.... on that cross. God sending him for the purpose and so that we would know how hard it must be for a father to send his son like that. It is the ultimate sacrifice for mankind.

No. I don't like slasher movies. I have no particular desire to see anyone tortured. Furthermore, it doesn't tell me anything I don't already know, having read the gospels many times.
To those who say that they can now appreciate what Jesus went through, I will point out that it was not anywhere near the suffering that others have gone through in the name of all sorts of religions and in the name of all sorts of causes. This is not to say that Jesus didn't suffer, only to say that many people have suffered more than he did.
The idea that god had to do this to himself in order to forgive people speaks either of a seriously mentally disturbed god (for which there is more than enough evidence throughout the OT) or, more likely, of a seriously disturbed religious philosophy.

I saw it when it played on HBO.
I'm not sure I understand how watching someone get tortured for 2 hours has anything to do with religion.
What I can't believe is that people took their children to it.
Basically- it was a lousy movie with a lot of brutality.

Yes, I watched it with my Christian parents. It was horrible.
It's him getting beaten for 2 hours with subtitles at the bottom. Oh wooo.
I think most people are guilted into liking it, specifically Christians. What kind of Chrisitan could say they hated a movie about their savior? They couldn't say that, so they nod and smile, even though they secretly hated it.
I'm sure some of you genuinely liked it, but if it was a movie about anyone else, it wouldn't have appealed to the masses like it did.

I have not seen the movie. At first, I didn't want to see it because it was too much based on religion. But after it came out I didn't want to see it because everyone that saw it said that the plot was simply Jesus getting beaten and bloodied the entire movie!
No thanks. If I want to see a fictional movie where a guy gets beaten on, I will watch a horror flick.

Yes I saw it. Personally I found it all rather boring. I really have no interest in watching a person being tortured and killed.
I guess that appeals to Christians but not me.
I was invited by a person on my street.

Never saw it,of course,I don't go to a theater to see movies anyway. I may scan it when it makes it to the T.V.,but I doubt it. I heard that it's subtitled and basically 2 hours of him getting the crap beat out of him.I don't see the point.I am already familiar with the gospel stories

Yes I watched it. It was good film even though it was a bit graphic. I miss the days of "The Ten Commandments" kind of religious films. Passion was just to bloody for me, its was to bloody for a horror flik. But thats just me

Gee. No one got the point.
How about this one. This one JUST happened. This is why God decided to bring the flood. Because he was disgusted at how mankind had behaved for 4,000+ years:

And this one's not Christian.
I can also show you some American photos of women who were beaten by their husbands...

Nope. Not interested. I didn't see the recent Star Wars movies either, or any of that Lord of the Rings drivel.
I did watch a really good Francois Truffaut film last night: << L'argent de poche >>.
