I learned the same way as the first poster: my brother took me to the top of a grassy hill, told me to get on and pushed the bike. If I didn't pedal I would have fallen over, which I did, but I figured out really quickly how to ride.

Just be positive, encouraging and sympathetic. If she is scared, maybe take her to a park where other children are riding or learning, if she sees them she may be more willing to give it anbother shot. Just don't push her too hard. Also, remind her how dumb she will look when she's a teenager and rides a bike with training wheels! ; )

Good luck to you both!!!

I cant tell you how to make someone else overcome fear. I might could explain how I have overcome some of my own, but I think that was because I wanted to overcome these things, and I did it on my own.
I dont think you have any chance of making someone else overcome a fear, unless they want to and are working on it themself. They may need your help, but they have to desire to do it to be able to.

On the other hand, most of us learned to swim by wearing swimmies (training wheels) and being thrown in the water every day, all summer long. Adults observed us, and when they could see that we were swimming correctly they unfastened the swimmies (training wheels) and threw us in the water, saying "look, you are swimming on your own"!!!

this is what my dad did to me it is not cruel it actually works but i was riding a bike when i was 4 without training wheels and i have never used them.......... but find a hill it can be a grassy hill or a street and tell them they must steer and if they fall it is their own fault and push them down the hill once they fall emough then they will start steering and pedaling and using the break

Here's what I'd do: tie the kid's bike to the bumper of your car, tell her to hop on or she's grounded, then floor it. She'll learn real quick! (seriously, I don't know your kid, so I can't help you)
