In the USA it is legal but Germany, france, Austria and Italy have prohibitions against displaying "Hakenkreuz" or Swastika. The Sawstika is recognized as the emblem of Nazism and not the emblem of front soldiers as such.
If you are hell-bent on wearing an emblem to honor German soldiers try something along the lines of the current German flag "Black-Red-Gold" or the Iron Cross (less the Swastika.)

In the USA, yes... Freedom of speech / expression permits it, and the ACLU has brought that specific issue to the Supreme Court successfully before !!
In GERMANY, I know that for MANY years display of items denoting the National Socialist Party (NAZI) was illegal.
Others here have correctly pointed out that the Swaztika was a PARTY symbol rather than a military one.

You.... You, sir, are a horrible person.
The Swastika doesn't show "sympathy" for Germany in the Second World War.....
It shows support for the Nazi party, support for facism, support for genocide, support for death!
Honouring the fallen of war will not be accomplished by wearing symbols of hatred.
Those who wore it at the front line were usually the SS, known as the cruellest organization the world has ever seen.

A) In Germany yes it's illegal
B) The wehrmacht front line soldiers would be more identifiable with an iron cross than a swastika, so wear that if you want to honor them

I'm sure you could wear it . . . for a short time, anyway, before somebody beat you up and ripped it off your arm. Too many bad connotations.
Which is a shame, really, because the "Hackenkreuz" (Hooked cross, or bent cross) used to be a Hindu religious symbol before it was subverted by the Nazis into the Swastika.

Hey dipstick, German soldiers didn't wear the Swastika in battle, the SS was about the only one's who did that. The Swastika was a political symbol, just like the elephant is to the Republican's and the Jack@ss is to people like you and the Democrats.
As far as walking around with that damn thing arond your neck, you're more than likely to catch a hay maker from the blind siide. So, it depends on how much dental insurance you have !

I take it you mean the swastika? It was originally, and still is I believe, a symbol of good luck for Hindus. So isn't banning it anti-Hindu? Are you a Hindu?
