I wasn't raised that way, I have however come across plenty of people who were, they were going to hell for just about everything under the sun. It is emotional abuse. God is our judge not another person. Telling anyone they are going to hell is a form of wielding God as a weapon and my God is not a weapon to be wielded by anyone. It is more responsible to teach children that there are consequences for our actions, good actions are rewarded and bad actions are punished.

It should be "legally" considered a kind of abuse to do something like that. I'd like to see some of these more extreme parents tried for some of the things they do.
I knew of an Evangelical family (a very large one at that) that raised the boys to be outgoing good Christian men and the girls were treated as worthless dish doing slaves.
This same family punished with a belt and paddle- pretty common- but daddy used the buckle.
The mother in this family (at his funeral, mind you) also suggested that "tommy was a nice man but he's gonna burn in hell!"... to his (and her) mother.
This family disowned one of their own for not believing in jesus when she grew up- she's living a happy life in another state now... much happier than when I knew her before all that.
This family has had 2 kids put into a mental hospital so far... one of them was 10 and had a nervous breakdown... A TEN YEAR OLD!
You tell me this ****'s healthy for children, and I'm gonna question your moral values- and call you a liar...
Next time you want to "save humanity" do the world a favor and recycle a bible.

Bible clearly says not to judge one another but if you will not seek Jesus you will not find him. The message of Jesus is taught in Sunday School and if you refuse to believe then everyone knows they will not go to heaven. No need to belabor the point. Just live and let live besides people generally will live long enough to want the comfort of the Almighty around. They want to be good and they want everlasting life so refusing Jesus is anybody s god given right (no pun intended, maybe (: ). If the message of purity is not for you then go out there and see what others live like that don t care for Jesus either. If you are lucky you will find a nice person that just wants to be happy and do nice things but be skeptical. There are wolves in sheep clothing out there that will make you a queen for a day just to have their way with you. If that doesn t bother you then I say go for it. Just remember, Jesus will always forgive you for he knows your heart. You were just looking for love and happiness as do us all. Jesus is very patient and will never change, unlike the wolves I mentioned. May the Lord bless you and keep you, Amen...

I agree 100%. Plus who the hell is anyone to judge like that. In religions they all say God is the most powerful so shouldn't such a thing be up to him? Even if it says so in some very old religious text can't this All Powerful Being change it's mind without consulting man kind? People that threaten a child or anyone with such a horrible thing should realize the sin they are committing. You can never change a person through fear. Only love will change the world.

I don't know any loving Christian parent who would tell their children that. I never ever told my children that. Children grow up and come to their own decision as to whether or not they want to become a christian. As they age, they learn more about the reality of eternal life and that the choice they make will mean heaven or hell. Children are not taught objectionable things in Sunday School when they are young, just like you wouldn't teach sex ed in preschool.

Yes, it is! How would you like to wake up in the midddle of Russia and then be condemned for not understanding anything around you: how to speak the language or understanding mores and values, etc.
Children are born innocent and poor parenting can be very polluting. Studies have shown that the only remaining basic essentials that are a "must have" for a child to succeed in life are #1...strong self-esteem and #2...the love of reading.
Telling a child he/she is condemned for anything undermines and can destroy #1. That would be a good reason to have the torment of hell in your conscious!!

Yes, it is. It's extremely irresponsible to teach any religion to a young child, as it prevents them from making an objective choice in later life. It's a form of intellectual child abuse, and a violation of freedom of religion.
Even those of you who are able to blindly follow a religion you can't logically justify (incidentally, that's a pretty sure sign of brainwashing), you must realise that most children are not born in your religion. And surely you'd appreciate it if the other religions stopped indoctrinating children, since that makes it harder for them to find your 'truth', right? Well why not do unto others as you would have them do unto you, by not indoctrinating your children either? If your religion truly does make the superior claim then a child raised open-mindedly who makes an objective choice in adulthood should agree with you.

I would not and have not forced my children into believing in something I can not prove to them. I can't even decided what I totally believe in, why on earth would I be a hypocrite and lie to my kids.
an answer below proves how insane people are. Don't tell your kids about the real threat of pedophiles which we can prove but do tell them there is a invisible spirit
that watches them... yeah okay.

Hey I'm Pagan but I believe that Jesus was reported to have said "Suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not ..." He never said tell them they're going to hell if they dont! People who tell their children stuff like that aren't old enough to be left in charge of kids never mind give birth to them. Grow up!
