As Jason C says below....in the old days , when there was only Terry Towel Nappies....and all that washing....the incentive , to get babies potty-trained, was to get rid of the washing chore !

My very bright , intelligent Grand Daughter , is 2 years and 3 months old....and still in diapers....which I am told is "normal"! I'm sure I remember my own kids , being Potty-trained, well before that and asap !

Defiantly, when my girls when little we lived in South Africa and baby diapers were made from towel. As a result of having to wash them we very quickly potty trained them both.

I've known parents who were anxious to get their kids potty trained, since diapers are costly...... so not always. And if you've got a kid in diapers- you have to clean their dirty butts- which is more work than potty training, so the lazy claim is not too valid.

I started potty training my daughter at about 12 months, that was when she met my personal training requirements, she could walk and she could say gotta go. Btw I hated those super absorbant diapers, and used them merely for the time saving convience.
