I was thinking exactly that today...'why would G-d want to destroy His own creation (humans, for instance) just because they do/believe a certain thing.' So much for being made perfect in the beginning.

First of all, it's important to understand what Hell really is ... not the Hollywood version of it. Hell is, quite literally, complete separation from God - the little red guy with horns and a pitchfork, dancing around in eternal fire doesn't quite cover it. We need to remember that the imagery used in the Bible, particularly in Revelation, is symbolic of larger concepts - concepts that words fail to adequately describe. It's not meant to be an exhaustive description of what Hell is all about.
If God we're NOT righteous and good, then it indeed would be hard to conceive of the concept of Hell. Because God is righeous and good, Hell is, de facto, a reality. God abhores evil and cannot abide with it. Those who reject God, and follow their own desires, then, are eternally separated from Him ... and that can't be a good thing, if you consider every good thing comes from God. Therefore, complete separation from Him, for all eternity, would ...for lack of a better word ... suck.
As far as a righteous, loving God sending people to hell ... there is nothing inherently UNrighteous, or UNloving, of God to exact justice on his creation (giving them what they deserve). Justice dictates that we've all fallen short of the glory of God, and we all deserve Hell. God would be perfectly within His rights to send us all to Hell, because of our sin.
Instead, He chooses to give us what we do not deserve - mercy.
God chooses to show mercy to his creation and gives those who believe and trust in Him eternal life. We don't deserve it, we cannot earn it, but God gives it to those who trust in Him, because of Christ.
Christians are still sinners, and still sin ... the only reason we will go to heaven and an unbeliever won't, is the fact that when God looks at us He sees the righteousness of Christ in us, not our sin. Without the righeousness of Christ, imputed to us, we'd still be in that "justice" category - not a good place to be.
Bottom line, there is nothing illogical or inconsistent with a holy God being just that ... holy.
So, the question really becomes ... "why does God keep anyone out of Hell, since we're all deserving of it?"

To be Damned in Hell means to be Eternally Banned from the Presence Of Almighty God.
We all have free will. We can either choose to be with Him for ever or away from Him forever.

Hell was created for Satan and his fallen angels. God does not tolerate sin.
God gave His Son Christ Jesus to save us from the penalty of sin which is death in hell fire.
God will judge this world. God has already judged this world once with Noah's flood. God has already judged Sodom and Gomorrah for sin.
God is pure, righteous, holy, wonderful and dear Father, but He will judge this world because He created it.

You're right! God does not torment the dead wicked or not.
Romans chapter 6 verses 7 proves that the dead are liberated from their sin, for this reason no dead one has any sin left to suffer for.
The condition of the dead is scripturally proved here:

Absolutely.
God did not create a hell for people to burn eternally. That would rule out his other loving qualities. Makes no sense.

you know what? God didn't create hell. satan used to be an angel for god. but then he thought, why am i worshiping him?? so God kicked Satan of heaven with the angels that had turned their back on him too. AND so satan lived in Hell.

Hell has enlarged itself for people like you or anyone that rejects God's plan of redemption.
