About eight years ago we went to a wedding of my hubby's work collegue (it was a pretty good white-collar technical job). Well, the wedding was in Oklahoma (we were in Kansas but are from LA) in this little "shotgun shack" kinda thing on the outskirts of a small town on a dirt road! We get there with our nice new outfits & found that save for the wedding couple, everyone else was wearing jeans or overalls! Some of them even had bare feet!

So my guess on "farm formal" is CLEAN overalls and shoes.

I don't know exactly, maybe you should call someone that you know is going to the wedding, or the bride/groom themselves and ask- I'm sure you won't be the only one confused.
Since it's a "farm formal", it's not black tie. Maybe a casual suit? Good luck. I hope you have a blast at the wedding!

Semi-formal is a dress code that is synonymous to black tie, and indicates a level of dress between a lounge suit and white tie.Other sources state that semi-formal dress is not synonymous to black tie as a tuxedo is not worn and a dark suit with tie is more appropriate. Traditionally, semi-formal calls for a dinner jacket in the evening or a stroller before six o'clock. Women traditionally wear either an evening gown or a cocktail dress, depending on the time of day. Additionally, in parts of North America, "semi-formal" can also refer to a high school dance, usually for ninth and tenth graders. While not as formal as proms, semi-formals require girls to wear dresses and boys to wear suits

Sun dresses and probably just a button up shirt with kakis. I am guessing. We are having a outdoor wedding and barn reception with a pig roast and thats what I am telling people to wear if they ask. Call the bride or groom though. They won't care if you call.

That's a whopper of an oxymoron. Black tie with a black Stetson, maybe, and your best cowboy boots, shined of course.

It's a hoedown. Wear overalls.

That's a new one on me. Maybe dresses and suits, but not high heels, as you'd probably be outside?

Maybe the cows will have bow ties?

I don't know. I honestly have never heard of that.

That's pretty strange. Google it!
