I started seeing this guy, and he knew that I have 2 cats, and that I treat them like children. So I was suprised when the first time he spent the night he locked them out of my room. I figured that this was just because it was his first time sleeping over. About a week went by and I woke up to him shooing the cats out of the room after I went to sleep.
I tried talking to him about it, and he said that he believes that cats are animals and they should not sleep on the bed with people. Now hes very nice to my cats and plays with them and pets them, and the cats seem to like him, but he kicks them off the bed and out of the room, and I don't know if I can deal with that... am I nuts?

ok this i don't think i made clear, he knew prior to spending the night that my cats sleep every night in my bed with me.... and also its MY bed, if he doesn't want to sleep with the cats then shouldn't we stay at his place?

Your house, your rules, if you guys sleep over at your house, your cats sleep on the bed, it's not his house , so why does he makes the rules????, just tell him that , or stay over his house, I wouldn't let any guy treat my two babies like that, Men come and go, but you will always have a faithful loveing pets

No your not nuts, give him another few weeks, and if he starts shooing them away and things like that. then get rid of them, you know? people who don't like ALL animals should be shot or put in an institution, I'm just like you are only I have 4 cats, and i don't care who else is sleeping in my bed, all 4 of the cats are in there every night, and there will be no shooing them out lol.

As a "cat person" I sympathize. Doesn't it seem like the cats have a prior claim? They were there first. Its up to him to accomodate to them, not to them to accomodate to him. No, you are not nuts at all. Maybe there could be a compromise: maybe you could make some nice comfortable cat beds for the cats, maybe stick some article of clothing with your scent on it that they could feel comfortable with. I like cats but they make me wheeze and sneeze so I couldnt have them in a bedroom.
You may live alone so the cats are company and theres nothing wrong wih that..but if u want to move on and be with this guy longterm you'll have to compromise..perhaps the cats in the house/apartment but not in the bedroom?
I was going to make some glib remark about him not liking your pussie but then I thought no..I'll keep it mature.

I totally agree with you, I have 3 "children" kitties of my own.
Maybe he's never had a pet and doesn't understand the family like bond.

Women love cats and dogs. I think they like animals in the bed more than me sometimes. So I would just tell you to f*ck off, and get a woman who doesn't have cats.

If he's not mistreating them (which he isn't) then it's perfectly normal for him to prefer to sleep with you and not your cats.

i think that ur bf is right, as long as he dont kill the cats.. i like cats too but idont want them in my bed.. and i know that they leave hairs everywhere and this is not good for health
