A question was asked about "God Addiction Counseling" yesterday, and a christian(~~LynA~~) replies:

"Get a life. What our children CHOOSE to believe is their business, just like its your business what you believe"

Hmmm... does anyone else see many things wrong with that statement?
So let me guess, this Christian mother taught her kids about every religion then let her child choose all on it's own?
I doubt it. Infact I'd bet all my money that the kid had Christianity rammed down it's throat and taught that it would go to hell if it believed anything else.
Doesn't really seem like a fair "choice" does it?

What would be a "fair choice"?

I was raised with no religion no talk of god(of any kind) and took crap from other kids about "going to hell" Only to find out as an adult that my parents have always considered themselves Christian and creationists!

The truth is however hard we try to we raise our children we are going to make mistakes.

Just because you had bad parents that apparently enjoyed ramming things down your throat doesn't mean that is how all Christian parents are. You lack an understanding of religion and parenting. A child is born into the religion of it's parents, and raised with a certain foundation. When the child is old enough to explore other religions, he or she will do that on his/her own.

I wonder if these same parents allow their children to choose what they eat? I'm sure unhealthy eating habits will develop in short order and candy and cheeseburgers will reign. Is this best for the child?

I guess that begs the question of whether or not religion should be thought of as a "preference" or not, doesn't it? For example, I might require my children to say "please," to do the dishes, to write thank-you notes, and get regular exercise--not because I enjoy controlling them but because I know that those behaviors, practiced consistently, will help them be happy. If you've found a religion that brings you joy, inspiration, peace, guidance, etc., why would you not want the same for your children? Along these lines, I would hesitate to foist a world view on my child that makes him or her feel "broken" or unloved by God.

I think children do have a right to choose their own religion, if not in their childhood then later in life if they choose to have one at all. I don't believe in ramming any religion down a child's throat.

No I don't see anything wrong with that statement.

I do have some concern about your "guess", "doubt" and "bet" that Christianity was "rammed down its throat."

Furthermore, your summary question is based on a straw-man that you developed with not a whit of knowledge.

Your arrogance is exceed only by your obvious lack of knowledge regarding Christianity and Christians.

Look stop your ranting and raving,it is every parents right and duty to bring their children to the knowledge of God even if people like you do not like it, what has it to do with you anyway? so you think that the sooner the whole world is Atheist the better it will be,hard to accept when you most of you have this attitude of anger and domination.
Not every parent tells their kids that they are going to Hell, so grow up.

No this good Christian mother, will tell her children about the Love of Christ, not that they are going to hell if they dont believe, if they choose not believe, that is their choice. Good day...
