"from the Greek a, meaning 'without'"
Atheist. Without God. Sums up an atheist to me. If anything, agnosticism is what you are referring to.

Actually, the prefix a- means without. You might be confused because the word apathy basically means indifferent. An atheist, then, is not someone indifferent to a higher power, but is instead someone without a higher power.

Can you post a reference to a dictionary that defines the "a-" prefix as meaning indifferent? Thought not, because it doesn't. It means "not", ie "not-theist".
Just another example of theists simply making stuff up.

I'm no expert but I dont think the prefix (a) means indifferent. I could be wrong however....
plus athiest doesn't imply that people are indifferent to the belief in a God, it means that they believe there is no God
EDIT: Bumblecherry that is ridiculous logic......I don't believe there is a dog living in England that is bigger than Wembley Stadium......that doesnt mean that i believe there is a dog living in England that is bigger than Wembley Stadium to not believe in. Sound ridiculous? so do you

What does the A in front of Men - mean? Indifferent to men? Against men? Anti men? Without men? Sounds about right.

ive never heard such rubbish in my life.i might as well say, christians dont exist and are lying to them selves because they pray to a book called the bible which is in fact the devil in disguise.im atheist and proud of it.the word means someone who can think logically and clearly on the grounds of truth and proof your god doesnt exist.its a way of proving to you that you imagine whats not their.their is no higher being than nature itself.we are all waiting still for you christians to show proof of your god.you know as well as i do it wont happen.its merely an aspiration of your thoughts.

No, "A" in the word atheist does not mean indifferent.
It is here used in a negative structure to emphasize a complete absence of something; in this case an absence of thesis.

The prefix 'a' means "not".
It does not mean "indifferent".
Let's not go redefining prefixes to suit your warped agenda, 'kay?
