This is a question for people of any faith, or no faith...First of all, are you opposed to abortion? If so, for yourself only or do you fight to enact anti-abortion laws? And even if you are against abortion personally, do you think it's your business to prevent other people from making that choice?

"But the abortionists surely make it their business by mocking us Christians & many don't even protest,"
WHAT?! Are you implying that abortionists mock Christians somehow by practicing abortions? You're sick.
Sen B - thank you, I'd forgotten what Islam said about the matter. I think that's got to be the most sane religious perspective in this particular case.

I would like to share my story of abortion. I am very sick with diabetes and I also have a heart condition. They took me off of my birth control because of health reasons and I got pregnant. My diabetes was so bad I could not control it and my doctors suggested I terminate for my own health and they told me because my sugar had been so high in the first few weeks of pregnancy that the baby would likely be deformed or worse. They gave me the choice to terminate at 5 weeks or wait till 20 weeks for an amniocentesis to show any problems with the baby. I chose to terminate at 5 weeks more so for my own health because I have twin daughters and a son to think of. I became diabetic at 25 and have went downhill from there.
When I went to the surgical center, there were about 30 other women there. Only one other woman was terminating for health reasons because her kidneys were failing. I was very disturbed to see women there that were as far as 21 weeks pregnant and they were perfectly healthy. I believe that it is a woman's right but I feel that unless it is medically necessary, abortions should not be legal at so far along. There are women that have preterm labor and give birth at this stage and the babies have lived. I am thankful that I could make the choice I did, though it was very hard emotionally. I believe abortion should be kept legal. There was a 14 year old girl there that day. Sure you could say that she made her bed now lay in it, but I have twin daughters that are almost teenagers themselves and I see how sex is thrown in their face everyday. Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and people like these girls have done nothing but show our little girls that provocativeness is cool. They know how to act sexy because it is thrown in their face everyday. My daughters tell me how the girls in their school think giving oral sex is so fun. These girls are lost and misguided. Social pressure and poor parenting are at fault. I would much rather see someone have an abortion than to keep it and resent it and have it grow up abused and start or continue a horrible cycle. I would like to see abortion only legal before 8 weeks, but some girls don't even know their pregnant by then or they try to hide it for fear of being in trouble.
I believe that it should be illegal for these abortions to take place at all past 12 weeks. A fetus that is at 21 week gestation could possibly survive at this time if born early. They have had babies as small as 10 ounces born and survive.
I believe women should have freedom to choose, but if your only choosing to abort because you just don't want a baby, you should only be able to make that choice in the first trimester.

I am against abortions, But I do not go out on the streets protesting, Because they will have their day before God of their sins, Now you ask do I make it my business to prevent other people from making that choice, As I said I am against abortions, But I don't go out on the street to protest. I can protest by voting for the lawmakers, that is also against abortion. Now you ask Do I make it MY business, NO, But the abortionists surely make it their business by mocking us Christians & many don't even protest, therefore when they look at a few Christians that will protest, They include us all,Therefore they are pushing their ideals down the Christians throat. You see, everyone wants to blame the Christians, & anything that goes against the bible & we live by it, then when they make fun of the Christian, Then yes it becomes my business. All that claims to be Christian is not Christians.

I am a Muslim and i believe people are free to make there own choices in life.
As for my faith it says yes abortion is permissible for certain reasons that the pregnancy will result in the death of the mother, rape or fetal deformity (anencephaly, congenital rubella specific mental and physical complication for the mother) but the child's life must not be ended deliberately.
For me i dont personally agree with abortion except for the above reasons. The reasons listed only make up 3% of abortions the other 97% is made up of means of birth control and the mother and baby are perfectly healthy, this i can never agree with, religious or not.

I am a Christian but believe that in certain circumstances it can be right (ie rape or if the mother or baby life is in dange). I also know plenty of people who have previously said that they would never have one but when it has come down to it have had an abortion so I would never say never. Although I think it was wrong I wouldn't prevent a friend from having one as I think it is their decision.

1. I do not agree with abortion.
2. I don't fight against abortion... I believe that it's a mother's choice to use the free-will that God gave her to decide what she think is best for her. And as a Christian, I believe that God is the ONLY judge and his judgement will be made accordingly!

I'm a Christian who's opposed to abortion because I believe in the sanctity of human life. It's also true that most abortions today occur as a kind of last minute contraception device. These human lives are paying the price by having their brains sucked out for this generation's sexual immorality. Everyone likes to shout about their rights. How about taking a look at your responsibility?

I am opposed, but I let people live their lives.
I do not think it is my business, if anyone asks for advice or help, I will try to help the best way I can, but other then that it is not my business. I support education that teaches people about abortion and sexual protection.

I'm not really "opposed" to it. I wouldn't use it as a form of birth control. But if someone wants to, let'em.
It's not my business to tell someone else whether to have an abortion or not. If she asked my advice I'd tell her what I think, but that would depend on her situation.
I think there are circumstances where it's a good idea.

I'm pro-choice, if there is a genuine reason that the child should be terminated, then so be it. This includes, but is not limited to, rapes/incest/danger to child/danger to mother/unable to raise a child in a loving environment/poverty
However I don't think it should be used as a form of contraceptive and a simple life style choice by foolish people who are not prepared to face the consequences of their shennanigans.

I personally don't believe in abortion, but I also think that I am in no position to tell someone what to do with thier body. I am no angel and so is everyone else on this earth, one person should have no bareing on what someone else does,in any aspect of life.
