The existence of God is accepted on faith and on the observation of the living universe. The belief in an afterlife is based upon logic, in that there must be a logical extension of this present life, else why do we exist in the first place?

Don't Panic's answer is right on: She said
"Jews don't have a strong concept of an afterlife. There are bits and pieces, mostly picked up from interactions with other religions.
Today most Jews are quite pragmatic. This is a question that we can't know the answer to. So we do our best to live our lives so that we are remembered and thought well of after we die.
Hanukah is very much about this world. So it really doesn't belong in your list either."
In addition to what she said, the reason we go to synagogue and celebrate all our holidays together is because we are a community (family) that celebrates and mourns together in THIS life. We aren't waiting for something that MIGHT happen in the afterlife. We live THIS life to its fullest, while remembering and mourning the lives of all who came before us.
People often ask why the Holocaust is remembered as a Jewish tragedy when *only* half of the 13 million were Jews. One of the reasons is that we mourn and remember ALL the tragedies of our past. Our tradition teaches us to become wise through knowledge and experience. How much wisdom can one gain without knowing and understanding our own history? How many Christians do you know who have studied and understand the actual history of their religion? How many understand how their religion changed with Constantine and the Nicene creed?

Most of the time, they do. That is faith: blind beleif with no concrete proof. Then again, there are some people who aren't really sure that there is an afterlife or a God, but they do these things to make sure. Sort of a "Say your prayers just in case there really is a God" situation. But yeah, for the most part, people really do beleive in the afterlife.

They should not ask the silly question like how do you know the particular person is your father. If he exists why the many disasters taking away the life of different types of person s.

How do you prove to everybody that there is air?You don't have to prove there is light since you can see it but how about the darkness? Can you see darkness?maybe yes, maybe no.As long that you still have questions unresolve by your inner self especially if it pertains to your personal faith there is no way we can be of help.Look around you-your family,church- observe from there. You must start asking yourself ,"why do I exist and for whom,?"

Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
