this is in a school zone the limit is 20 miles per hour at all times not just during school that part is clear here is the confusing part when you come into town on one side going towards the school the speed is 55 then 50 then 35 then 20. but if you come the other way towards the school away from town its 35 then 20 then it doesnt change back until you hit 55 zone so how come on one side of the street you can drive 35-50 but on the other its 20 ? i never know if they just didnt put up a sign or what and if i do get caught going 40 in that part where the limit is 50 on the other side will i get a ticket? so just to be clear cause i know its confusing if you and i were comming towards each other your speed limit is 50 while mine is still 20 even when we pass on the road.

Ask a Police Officer. Either there is a logical answer, or someone made a mistake, and never corrected it. Better yet, call City Hall.

This is not really common but not rare.

On one street, on one side the limit is 30, because there are a lot of businesses there. on the other side the limit is 45, and there is nothing there but a field.

Drive the limit you see posted. You'll be fine.

While we're talking about school zones, remember a school bus violation is almost as bad as a dui,. so, be careful.

This one is easy. Follow the posted limit. In the meantime, contact your town officials about the discrepancy, and see if it is intentional or not.

Speed limits are set by highway engineers. While normally both directions of travel have the same speed limit, there may have been a case for that not to be true there. But feel free to contact your governmental officials. They are there to help you.

Don't be like my sis and claim it's ok to pass on a solid line if there isn't any traffic coming and you can see clearly. You still have to follow the law.

Very simple it is a speed trap that all it is a speed trap. Now how many school zones have you ever seen that have two different sets of speeds.Kids do cross the streets. This is designed to issue speeding tickets to bring in revenue.

Follow the signs as you see them and ignore what it says going the other way or you may well get a ticket. Sounds like a speed trap to me.

All you have to do is follow the POSTED limit. That sometimes is different from side to side by schools. It usually has to do with how the busses park or how the kids are directed to cross the streets.

It could be a visibility issue, or a congestion issue from one direction versus the other. The location of crosswalks and the such. Call your local planning commission, they should know.

You are very observant!

But it seems like you might have too much time on your hands. Check with your local city or county. Or strike up a friendly conversation with your local police officer or sheriffs deputy.

But don't be surprised if he checks your pupils and asks you to walk in a strait line!

You just keep observing the natural world around you and you will find your answers in what you perceive.
