Albert Collins - definitely my all time favourite. I also really like Albert King; one of the coolest blues albums I own is a jam between him and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Really awesome.

I'm a blues musician (vocals harmonica) and its hard to say which song or artist is my favorite. Muddy Waters is my basic influence, but Little Walter, Otis Rush, Albert King and too Meany to mention. I go through periods like most artists do I guess.

What about Big Mama Thorton, Koko Taylor, Saffire Uppity Blues Women? In fact I am not seeing the women getting their respect. I guess for me Born Under a Bad Sign by Big Mama. She wrote Hound Dog, sold it for dirt then some boy from Tupelo picked it up and did a whole new thing. Leadbelly singing In the Pines. Met Little Jimmy Reid at a small venue and I ain't never heard a harmonica played like that.

I can't believe that with all these answers from so-called blues fans nobody has mentioned "Gary Moore", one of the best blues guitarist's ever! My favorite blues song is "Story of the blues" by Gary Moore from the "Blues Alive" cd, which is my favorite blues album ever. Another great blues guitarist not mentioned by anyone is Chris Duarte, so start listening all you blues fans.

OK, I love you just for asking this question. You've gotten something started now. I AM A BLUES WOMAN! There are so many blues tunes/singers that I like that I don't even know where to begin, but I will try to name a few of them just to give you a general idea of who/what I like. OK here they are: B.B. King, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Z.Z. Hill, Johnnie Taylor, Johnny "Guitar" Watson, Little Milton, Lattimore, Mel Waiters, Ronnie Lovejoy, Marvin Sease, David Brinston, Albert King, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn-- OK, I said I'd only name a few, I see I have gotten carried away, I told you I was a BLUES WOMAN-lol.

"Flood Down in Texas" by Stevie Ray Vaughn
"Red House" by Jimi Hendrix
"Nothing But a Woman" and "Playin in the Dirt" by Robert Cray
"The Monkey Song" by Stacey Mitchart
"Prison Blues" by Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Cootie Stark & "Big Daddy" Pattman
"Last Goodbye" by Kenny Wayne Shepherd
"Lie to Me" by Johnny Lang
"The Thrill Is Gone" by BB King
"Mannish Boy" by Muddy Waters
"Boom Boom" by John Lee Hooker
"Three O'Clock in the Morning" by Ike &Tina Turner
This is a brief list of my favorites. I listen to what moves my soul and pulls at my heart. The cool thing about the blues is that the early stuff has been re-done by newer artists and is usually more of a tribute like Big Head Todd and The Monsters remake of John Lee Hookers Boom Boom. He actually sings it and they replay the music.

Favorite blues tune is from Blues Bros 2 movie when "Nothing but the Blues" is performed by (to name just a few) Dr John, Clapton, Bo Diddley, BB, Koko Taylor, Stevie Winwood, Lou Rawls, Charles Musselman, Billy Preston, Clarence Clemons, Paul Shaefer, artists too numerous to mention all jammin together on one song....raw, uninhibited talent at its best. Hard to outdo this one!

I don't know if she is bluesy enough for you, but try Daniella Cotton and there is a CD called Blues Guitar Women that I am dying to get.
Try Amos Lee and Bettey LaVette's, I've Got My Own Hell to Raise. She is great. I love her song The High Road.
A long time ago I heard an early Alberta Hunter song about keeping the lights off because he doesn't like the way she looks. I don't know the name of the song.
