I only sleep with my boyfriend and he only sleeps with me.

If he gets tested and is clean, does that mean I'm clean too?

No.

Let me put forth a few worst-case scenarios.

1. Your boyfriend may have fooled around behind your back and picked up chlamydia. Then he slept with you and gave you chlamydia. Then he happens to resolve the infection on his own. This is far more likely for guys than girls. So when he gets tested, he's negative. But you're stuck with an infection that can make you permanently infertile.

2. Even thought you never slept with anyone else, you may have had sexual contact, like dry humping, with other guys. You can get herpes and HPV (the virus that causes genital warts and cervical cancer) through this kind of contact. no fluids and no penetration required. Most doctors don't routinely test for herpes. And there is no clinically-available HPV test for guys. So he tests negative, but you may have infections.

The best thing to do is get tested together. Make a date of it. Go out for lunch or ice cream afterwards. Get tested twice a year.

One of the biggest reasons that teens are at the greatest risk of getting STDs is because they never think it can happen to them. Well, it DOES, and it does in stunning numbers! So don't think you're not vulnerable. Be caution and protect yourself and your partner.

In a perfect world, if you were both virgins to start with and you have never cheated on each other, then yes technically neither one of you could have an STD. That also includes not fooling around with other people...deep kissing, manual foreplay, oral sex...nothing.

no! You can never be 100% sure your boyfriend is telling the truth. The only way you can know for DEFINITE is to get tested yourself
