It is scientifically proven that natural body smell contains DNA chemical signals. This aids reproduction i.e. if your partner smells amazing it is because their DNA is strong where yours is weak. This POTENTIALLY helps build a better child.
Artificial insemination? Not a good idea without meeting the donor. This goes for farm animals.
This being a fact, why do people cover themselves in fake smells such as perfume, aftershave? Why do they use washing powders, soaps, sprays, etc with fake smells to hide natural chemical signals if smell is scientifically proven to be essential?
I know that bad body and house management can lead to problems. These can mostly be avoided by regular washing, etc. But maybe the increase in some health problems is because of genetic defects encouraged by covering chemical signals that clearly have a legitimate purpose.
I know some people are going to be offended by the scientific evidence and my raising the issue, but I'm telling the truth.
Sorry!!!!

Congrates to hunting and Lindsey7 for their stupid answers. To those that think perfumes get peoples' attention, they must be a bit shallow apart from the fake smell they apply. Why else would people ignore them.

People use fakes smells such as perfumes and colognes for several reasons. It can be due to the fact that some people perspires a lot and stinks easily (having bad odor) especially intheir armpits, thus the scent of the perfume or cologne can cover up their smell..
Secondly....to attract and get their attention. Some people use them to attract the opposite (or same sex). .. Like in parties or in a bar, once someone smelled your perfume, you get their attention...
Biochemically speaking, the natural body scent that humans (and even animals) emit in their body for reproduction is what you call pheromones... This pheromones acts as chemical signals when once smelled, it triggers the limbic system in the brain to sense for "mating"...Usually this are secreted in the armpits and pubic region.
Nowadays, perfume and cologne companies are researching for this pheromones. Ive seen on the internet that other companies had already added pheromones in their products due to its "attraction-for-sex" effects...

The concept of sex for reproduction alone is no more accepted.Sex was restricted due to the fear of getting pregnant in the 18 th century. With the introduction of condoms and contraceptive people are looking on sex for pleasure only.Reproduction is possible when needed by discontinueing preventive measures. The body scent(natural )emitted from arm pits or pubic region,is not capable of attracting opposite sex due modern clothing /textiles etc.People now use perfumes to attract and seduce for sexual pleasure. The long term effect of perfumes on reproduction is not known. From the times of Cleopatra there are records of artficial perfumes. There is no evidence that in societies/communities using perfumes rate of reproduction is lower. In the Muslim community ,who use perfumes through out the year reproduction rate is high.I also agree that all artificial chemicals including perfumes are harmful.Living close to nature is the best. But how many are prepared for that.A ban on cosmetics/perfumes may not be possible in as much as there is no scientific evidence regarding DNA changes. It may left up to individuals to use perfumes or not.
Whether seduction using artifcial perfumes containing pheromone is legal or ethical are other issues involved. Many companies are spending much to produce such perfumes and some of them 'guarantee success"!

I am not in the least offended by your comments. You are entitled to your opinion. I also know that I prefer a woman to smell of perfume than sweat, especially if we are close.

you don't have to be sorry for your ignorance. scent aids in arousal; not reproduction. it starts the whole arousal - conception - reproduction cycle. so, you are a tiny bit correct. but, americans have, for lack of a better term, evolved. we have grown to, not only dislike... but be almost physically repulsed by the natural smell of human sweat. perfumes are now able use pheromones in their scents to aid in the natural physical attraction we have for one another.

People have been brainwashed by big business and the advertising media into thinking they need some things, which clearly they dont-think twice before wasting your money on useless goods, and getting brainwashed by hypnotic advertising.
