Yes they can be wrong. No test is ever 100% accurate. Even paternity tests are 99.999% accurate (or something like that). NOTHING is 100%.

Herpes blood tests CAN be wrong. The most common way, and the most preferred way for testing for herpes is by a physical exam when sores are present and by a fluid sample from the sores. Blood tests can be used also, but like I said before they are not 100% accurate.

I've heard of people having false positives and even having a result of inconclusive.

If you are really concerned, get tested again! Good luck!

I would bet that it's too early to be detected. You should be at least a month pregnant before a test registers. You can get a negative and it can be wrong but if you get a positive then it can't be wrong. If you aren't pregnant then you should see a doctor for your symptoms. You could also have the flu or some other illness. There's a lot going around this year.

There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.
The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid—such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.

It can take years for an outbreak to occur after infection. Sometimes it stays dormant for a while.
