Relationships can take alot of time and effort - so it can possibly affect your grades if you let it. When I was single, I put more time and energy in my school work. I didn't have anyone that needed love and attention. I didn't go out as much, etc. I didn't have to worry about relationship problems. But, it shouldn't affect your grades dramatically (if at all.) I am still a great student, despite being in a relationship.

And you might even do better, if your partner inspires you to do better in school - by helping you study, complimenting your success, etc.!

it really depends on the person you are, or they are. If you set aside time to talk to each other each night, then your grades probably wont be affected so bad. If you talk to them all night long then you are often side tracked, and because the homework is less interesting than your significant other you pay more attention to them. Its more a matter of the work ethic that you have, or how good you are at focusing on what needs to get done.

I would say yes, just becuz your priorities shift from your schoolwork, to your new fling. Unless you are a major nerd, you're gonna be detracted by thoughts of the funny jokes he said or the image of his smile popping out of nowhere. But after you get that 1st paper back with a low grade, or you walk into class and realize you spent all night talking on the phone to him instead of studying for the test you're about to take, or after your 1st argument, you'll start to balance your life out a little more and your grades will even back out. :)

You may still do your homework and all, but you may not do it to your best of your abilities because you want to set time for your bf/gf so you do everything in a rush and in such limited time to make sure you make time for him/her. But frankly, I don't think that's the best idea because if it is, you'd need to rearrange your priorities. =) Suddenly you will find yourself staying up late for projects (if it is that important to you) and it's not going to affect him but YOU and your overall performance! BEsides, when you spend time with him/her instead of doing your work, do you think what ya'll do will in any way be productive? And if you procrastinate, it will all just add up and then you'll never have the free time you wanted. So it's better to take care of BUSINESS first and then enjoy ALLLL the free time that you managed to WORK for! =D He/she should undersdand! You gotta do WHAT YOU GOTTA DO! It all takes discipline. =)

My grades went up. I had a 100 average in science after i hooked up with this kid. we studdied together, and we both ended up with a hundred average. And i went up in almost all my other subjects by at least one point. I mean my science grade was a 98 before. Being someones GF made my grades go up!

Yes. You usually study a lot less and think more about happy times then what assignment gets done or what quiz is coming up. And if you get dumped, the grades tend to go down. If your serious about your grades, becareful who you date. It could bite you in the ***.

I think having a girlfriend helped me. For one it boosted my self esteem alot, took alot of that pressure to be "cool" for the ladies off. And it's also another person who cares about you and if they really do they'll encourage you to get your work done. And depending on how old you are more than likely your boyfriend or girlfriend's opinion will be alot stronger that your parents.

i would say not necessarily average but any kind of focus concentration definitely went out of wack. i should know this by going from studying for my exam to never again. all i remember is two weeks before my very important exam that would destine me to live or death was forgotton about. i guess only a smart person could make it on that.

I have been with my boyfriend for 9 months and throughout my entire time in school my grades have never dropped below A's and B's. It depends on who you are, and you have to stay focused even if you're dating someone. If that person doesn't respect the time you need to study and everything, find someone new, they need to respect you.
