That is a lot of rambling and whining for one question.

Simple answer: No -- not anytime soon

The job is not done. We are at war. We cannot just cut and run that would only cause more problems in that part of the world as well as here at home.

The truth of the matter is that this war was being waged against us years before we choose to fight back. Islamic nations teach their children to hate Americans. They are taught that killing Americans assures them a place in Heaven.

We must fight to preserve our way of life. You should be proud to live in a country that respects your freedom and is willing to go to war to keep you free from oppression.

I find is disheartening that we seem to be breeding a nation of whining cowards. I blame the media.

I spent 10 years of my life serving this Nation in the USMC. I have fought to preserve the freedoms that you take for granted. I have shed blood in battle for my country, and I would glady do it again.

Freedom is not free -- get on board.

In the last election, the Democratic Party won a majority in Congress, giving them control (but not complete control) of one of the three branches of the US government. They won that election with, among other things, promises to end the War in Iraq.

However, the President is not ready to surrender, so Congress must find a way of ending the war in a realistic, politically expedient manner, in spite of his objections. That is, the Democrats have to engineer the loss of the war, while laying the blame for it's loss on the President.

Congress has the constitutional duty of apropriating and aportioning funds. They decide on the tax laws, and how the government will spend it's money. The War is funded by a series of apropriations bills passed by Congress. Without funding, the War cannot be fought.

Congress first passed a bill to fund the War that contained legislation that would end the war at a set time. Bush vetoed that legislation - this is where the incomplete control of Congress comes in, passing a bill is easier than overriding a veto - the Democrats didn't have enough votes in Congress to override the veto, so they have to try something else.

They can always simply not fund the war at all. That would end the war, but it might leave some of the blame for the loss of the war with them, and they don't want that.

The next thing they're going to try is to create a two-part funding bill, with a 'review' in-between. So, the War would be funded for a while, then the President would have to report to Congress on progress. At that point, the Democrats could declare that the President has failed to make sufficient progress, and terminate funding, ending the War and blaming Bush.

So the short answer is, no, the troops aren't coming home right away.

No they are not coming home any time soon;

And for Baebichelle:

Maybe you don't remember all those "Permanent bases" in Germany and Korea, and Japan. Those bases now empty and turned back over to the Home nation. We build facilities so that soldiers have the safest, most comfortable environment in which to live. What facilities we build where gives no indication of future OPS. All they indicate is that soldiers live there. Come-on give me a break with the "I don't know why my friends died." They died for the same reasions that my friends died. They were soldiers, they were sent and it was their day in the box. Guess what it will happen to you one day too. Question is will it be with comrads you love and trust doing something worth while like Iraq or will it be in bed or in a car accident (much better chance of dieing in thoes places than in IRAQ)? If you were ever a soldier you should know better.

Geesh!

OK- I'm skipping the whole Iran thing... that's a whole other issue for now...

Iraq: we are NOT leaving at this time. In fact, it was just approved for another 35,000 troops to go over ASAP. The deployments for most of the Army members who are ALREADY there just got extended by 3 months, bringing the grand total of time for them to 15 months in Iraq. The Marines as of now, have NOT extended the current troops, but HAVE changed FUTURE deployments from 7 months to one year for now.

Your best bet of information of what's going on is going to come from those who have family and close friends over there now. Forget what the media says, stop listening to political crap. Elections are coming up, so everyone is going to say just about anything to try to get elected, and they are ALL blowing smoke.

Hope any of this helps!!! Email me if you have any more detailed questions!

I live in a military town, am married to a Marine who is currently deployed and have friends who's husbands are either deployed or will be deploying. They're still going. No one is coming home until they're supposed to. Things are business as usual.

No nobody's coming back....

I am a former soldier (US Army - Ft. Carson Colorado) and can TESTIFY that they are building PERMANENT BASES over there....do you have google earth?

If so, travel over to Al Asad airfield and you can clearly see the bases...why you may ask?!?

Because WE are NEVER leaving.....we are being setup to go into Syria and Iran....and if you are still skeptical go to your local military (army) recruiter, sign up and you'll see for yourself.

I am so sick of trying to convince people of this especially since I've SEEN IT with my own EYES.....We are living under a North American Union spearheaded by the NEW WORLD ORDER.....

I don't know why my friends died BUT THEY DID and you all just want to attack me.

Since I had the courage to SIGN UP and go there I know what I'm talking about....many of you won't dare to sign up...I'm against all of this propaganda and brainwashing....I had to FIGHT to get out...3 times in Iraq was enough....I didn't want to die and my family NOT KNOW WHY....

We are staying over there....it's all about MONEY....Do you get it know? I hope so...

No mainstream media will give you the facts not even FOX news....
