Yes. Largely because high fructose corn syrup is in just about everything.
Did you know that only 2% of heart attack victims have high cholesterol? Yet the media leads us to believe it's this big thing. Everyone dropping dead of heart attacks from cholesterol.
Not the case at all.
Back to the subject at hand. Not all vegetarian and vegans aim at health. Many simply aim at avoiding animal products.
High fructose corn syrup is converted to the worst kind of transfat in our liver. And it is in everything. No one ever told you your cola was causing high cholesterol did they? No one ever told you your 100% "real juice" was causing high cholesterol did they? Read the label.
High fructose corn syrup.
People should avoid statin drugs like the plague. You can totally lower your cholesterol by eating right. Drugs should be a last ditch effort.
There is some strong evidence to hereditary cholesterol problems. However, there is even stronger evidence that having high cholesterol is not a problem.
In Europe their cholesterol "problem" is twice and thrice that of ours. Yet they have barely any problems with it.

Sure, one reason is hereditary. That is what I have and at one point when I used to eat at the fast food place across the street (burgers) I would wake up in the night (a few times) without any feeling in my arm. Literally like a lead weight hanging from my shoulder. That meant I lost bloodflow to my arm from that food.
After I slowed down eating that it stopped, and no issues with that on a vegetarian diet.

Yes ...it is the body ( the liver I think ) makes most of the damaging cholesterol although there is alot in meats etc cutting these out wont particularly reduce your levels - a drug called a statin seems to be the answer, usually available on prescription.

Yes. Heredity is one of the factors in high cholesterol that has nothing to do with what you eat.

Sure...your body makes it and regardless of what you eat, it can still be high. Diet can help but not always.
