I snore terribly and have gone thru tests and apparently I have Sleep Apnea. I've been given this horendous machine that makes me feel like Darth Vader to help me "breathe" properly at night, but I can't cuddle with hubby or relax or move for that matter? Is it worth using it? I truly despise the thing.

I have severe OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) and have used my CPAP for two years now. When I was diagnosed, I decided to embrace the treatment and going in with a positive attitude makes a huge difference. My level is 13 cm/H2O and when I first got it, I had some trouble getting the headgear adjusted right but once I found that magic spot, I've been loving it.

I'm so much more rested. I have more energy. I've lost weight without consciously changing my diet or activity. I find I'm naturally eating less and moving more! My spouse now sleeps without the sound of a leaf blower in bed, and my doctor has noticed the improvements.

Stop despising it and embrace it. You really have little alternative but surgery that is normally about 50% effective if your doctor will do it or more severe health problems.

I have used a CPAP since 1998, and I would never even take a half hour nap without it. You need it to prevent a heart attack, which untreated sleep apnea can cause. Sometimes life gives you lemons -- you know the rest. Try to change your attitude and be grateful that you have this wonderful device that will enable you to get healthful sleep. You may need a few nights to adjust -- just do it! It will not do anything for your health if you refuse to use it.

Soon you will find that you go to sleep very quickly as soon as you "turn on." You do your cuddling before you put the mask on -- nothing says you need to wear it when you are in bed but not ready to sleep. If you can't relax or move, maybe you need to adjust the headgear or reposition the machine. It's awkward at first, but it should not be uncomfortable.

Quit fighting it -- this is a life-saving therapy that you will need for the rest of your life. The sooner you decide to stop being resentful, the better. You're wasting a lot of time despising something that will give you a longer, healthier, more productive life.

Yes, they do work & can save your life, it takes a while to get used to them, just don't stop wearing it!!!! the home health care company that set it up should have given you enough hose to move around, don't stop cuddling!!! if you turn to one side, & the hose is in the way, flip it over your head!! Snoring doesn't mean you have sleep apnea Always, most people that have it feel tired waking up and/or during the day, due to low O2 during the night, the CPAP machine can save your life!!!

I use a CPAP and I can tell some difference. I know I don't snore with it on. I was determined to make it work. I don't know if you have the mask that covers your mouth or nose or just the nose....I would think that would make a difference. Mine is just for my nose. I've used it for about 9 months and I'm at the point where I feel "naked" without it at night.
Again I was determined. I don't feel like Darth Vader....more like someone from Top Gun!!

I have it and I use the machine at times =I too find it very hard to sleep with the mask on=It would be better if we had those small tube things that go in the nose like we have to use when in the hospital
