The mere mention of it causes nutjobs with tinfoil wrapped around their heads to come out of the woodwork.

There is something most Americans do not know...Al Qaida and other organizations declared war on us around the time of the Saudi Arabian war - Desert Storm in 1990!
There were several attacks on Americans over the years - mostly in overseas places, but then in 1993, they attacked the Twin Towers. Only a few people were killed or injured, but for the first time in over 100 years, Americans were attacked on their own soil. There were a few more attacks, then came 9/11. In one day, as many civilians died as have died in four years of the War on Terror.
Americans were united in their resolve to take the fight to where the attackers were - the Middle East. Almost immediately, "experts" decided that it was bad for Americans to hear about 9/11, and so talk about it mostly disappeared from the popular media's agenda.
Now, somehow it has morphed into a very unpopular war in an obscure part of the world. Popular opinion has been turned by a determined group of "peace lovers" into some sort of mistake by Pres. Bush and company.
If we run away from what we started, Al Qaida and other groups like AQ will return to our lands to attack us again.
For the R&S connection, extremists in every religion have been causing terror, pain and agony for true followers practically since the beginning of time.

Years in the planning....idea that problems that exist are always someone Else's fault so use the scape goat (the attackers used the US as a rallying point)....to make a point hit the biggest Target you can very hard (again hit the US what bigger target is there in the world right now)....use propaganda to divide and weaken(is going on and has been before and after 9/11 very similar to Tokyo Rose during WWII)
Random thoughts.....by the actions taken by the terrorist...what is it exactly they are trying to accomplish and for what purpose....they are dividing the country and once divided it will be weaker...but for what purpose?

I think that it was a big wake up call, and has given Americans a taste of what some other countries have been living with for years.
We have always felt secure, and not worried at all, and it certainly gives you a different way of looking at things. How many years have foreign countries destroyed every single bag or back pack that is left anywhere, assuming that it's full of explosives. If you saw a backpack somewhere, would you immediately wonder if it was a bomb??
I don't think that I would!
I also think that the government has taken advantage of this opportunity, and keeps coming up with another "alert", another threat, and it justifies spending all of the money on homeland security, when the government is actually NOT making us any safer!

Osama Bin Laden is what the official word on it is. Yet, as time goes by and they haven't found the guy I wonder if maybe it wasn't an inside job. Sounds crazy but it sure made Bush's policy of dictatorship more easily implemented (the patriot act)

I think it is very sad that so many innocent people died and no religion or reason should justify killing.
However, Osama bin Laden was a "Frankestein" created by the US itself indirectly, through all the money it asked saudis to give to mujahedeens who were fighting in Afghanistan against Russia, back then US's enemy.
Plus... goes around, comes around. You can not meddle in the Middle East affairs indefinitely and then think it is never going to come back to you and get you.
Don't hate me Americans. I do not sympathize with Jihad, I am just speaking plain facts. If you don't believe me read Craig Unger's book "Bush and the Saud"

There are a lot of things we will never know about 9/11. We are only told what the government wants us to know and they want us to believe that Islam is the cause of this tragedy. The reality is that TERRORISTS who hate the US government did this. They were uneducated young men, unaware of what their religion really teaches, and what the Qur'an really says. They were manipulated and controlled by by those with power and money to commit these crimes. This was not jihad in its true meaning. It was strictly terrorism and an attack on the US and its policies.

Religious zealots might be the cause--- or could just be the puppets behind the real cause... but in any case...
The only thing more dangerous than a religious zealot...
is someone who doesn't care about God at all.

How soon we forget. Less than a week we stopped singing "God bless America", and got back to politics. There are politicians that would rather see America destroyed than admit their policies might be wrong. (I'm talking about both political parties). This is the "United" States of America. Time to act like it.

It is barbarian, it is terrorism. A war is mostly an act of honor.. we meet face to face, and fight. We don't attack each other like that and kill the civilians on both sides, that is truly barbarian and terrorism. I don't know how the planners of such massacre were able to sleep ever after!

A verse in holy Qura'n, surprisingly resembles with 9/11, that makes me think may be it was an God's act.
Chapter no.9 (Tauba),
Qura'n',Part no.11 = (9/11)
Verse no. 109 = nos of the storeys.
9:109. "Is it then he who laid the foundation of his building on piety to Allah and His good pleasure better, or he who laid the foundation of his building on the brink of an undetermined precipice ready to crumbled to pieces with him into Fire of Hell. And Allah guide not the people who are the Zalimun (cruel, violent, proud, polytheist and wrong doers)".
