I have a friend contaminated with HPV and she have a contact with her husband who happened to be unaware he is a carrier of the disease. They have a contact last july 2006 and it was only this month when my friend was diagnosed to be having genital warts. The warts are very small. Is this a serious disease? How about the carrier? He admitted hiring once a prostitute wayback dec 2004 before their marriage. What is the incubation period to this disease?

It can take several months and even years to get genital warts from HPV. And, not even person with HPV will get genital warts. There are a little over 30 different kinds of HPV that are sexually transmitted. Of those 30+ kinds, only a handful of them actually cause genital warts.

Most people with HPV have no signs or symptoms of the virus. That is why is is one of the most common STDs out there. People don't have symptoms and so they are unaware they have the virus and end up spreading it around to others unknowingly.

I have personally had HPV for over 6 years. I develop genital warts from my HPV about a year ago. It took me 5 years to develop genital warts from my HPV! So, obviously, it can take a LONG time!

Also, a lot of people think men are just "carriers" of HPV and that's not true. Men are directly affected by the virus, just like women are. Men can develop genital warts from HPV and they can develop certain cancers like penile and anal cancer (although these cancers are pretty rare).

yes, yes andddddddd yes even in a monogamous relationship if he has been in another relationship he could of had or carried it as well. You can go years without having symptoms of HPV, the only way is to have a pap smear and be specifically checked for HPV. You can do many things to treat it, so at least you probably caught it early. Good luck!

Your friend may have had it before and not have known. u would have to have a wart ot positive HPV pap to know for sure. The doctor I work for says things like stress or pregnancy can make them active.
