If he isn't dehydrated he is doing allright. They should have told you what to watch for. There are some blood tests to see if he is allergic to something or sensitive to it as in sensitivity to glutons.....then bread or wheat will cause the runs. The main thing is if he isn't dehydrated and seems fine, they might test for lactose intolerance too.

Most of these people don't know what they are talking about-I am a pediatric provider and this is a common illness!
You weren't very descriptive as to what was done in the hospital. Did they treat him for dehydration? Most diarrheal illnesses are caused by viruses, which is why he did not get medication. Sometimes this can last for 2 weeks. You need to watch his hydration level, otherwise just wait the illness out. Don't give any kind of anti-diarrheal medication, that is not suggested in children. If you still have questions, see or call your primary's office! If it's over 2 and not throwing up, then likely you can maintain his hydration if he will still drink.

Change Doctors, this is your baby. He will get dehydrated and could die. He could have just about anything, problems with his intestines, bowels, there could be more to this. I can't believe a Dr. would not send this child home with nothing no directions or anything. Take him back and tell him this is not getting better and fix it. Did they get blood work on him. Don't stop until you get this fixed. Good Luck sjsred
P.S. Give him plenty of fluids pedialite, chicken soup homeade is the best but if you don't know how to make it then get a can. Make sure he gets the vitamins that he needs to keep his strenght up.

Take him back to the hospital. This could be a serious problem. Get another opinion. He could be very sick, and I wouldn't take a chance.
If you need a cheap clinic, call your local department of health and human services. It could be just a bug, but you really don't want to risk it with one so young.

make sure he's getting a lot of liquids. This is about the only time that I would say let him drink some soda like Coke or sprite
