Usually these occur when I bend over. Sometimes they last 5 minutes and sometimes longer. I went to a doctor and they did some tests and said my heart is fine but I know it isn't. I feel like I am gonna faint and I get short of breathe when it happens. I just feel like my heart is in my throat ready to come out. My heart beats so bad I can put a pillow on my chest and see is move. And when I breathe out you can hear my breathe pounding even though all I am doing is breathing out. I was just wondering if there is anyone out there with these same symptoms?

Palpitations that do not cause significant symptoms are normal. The heart beats approximately 100,000 times daily. If the heart were 99% 'perfect' we would still have 1,000 'abnormal' heart beats daily. In fact - people have hundreds to thousands of aberrant heart beats daily. These beats may be too early, too late, too soft, too hard, or a skipped beat altogether. They may occur singly, in pairs, or in 'runs' of various lengths. The description that you give - including being able to see a pillow placed upon your chest move - may be normal. There are times that palpitations lead to anxiety and this may lead to a variety of symptoms. Having said this however your symptoms do certainly raise some questions. Your physician should have taken a history, performed a physical examination, and done an electrocardiogram. If all of these were normal and if the palpitations persist then laboratory chemistries should be done - especially for thyroid function. Finally - if the palpitations continue on a daily basis a 24 hour heart rhythm recording is done which is referred to as a Holter monitor. If all of this is done it should be possible to answer the question of whether or not these are 'normal' or 'abnormal' palpitations with reasonable certainty.

For patients having more transient symptoms, a cardiac event monitor which can be worn for a month or more can be used in case Holter monitor (24 hours) can not detect ECG changes. Propranolol is used to treat high blood pressure. It is also used to prevent angina (chest pain) and heart attacks. It works by relaxing your blood vessels so your heart doesn't have to pump as hard. Propranolol is also used to treat abnormal heart rhythms. Propranolol may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: * dizziness or lightheadedness * difficulty sleeping * excessive tiredness * upset stomach * vomiting * rash * diarrhea * constipation If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately: * difficulty breathing * sore throat * unusual bleeding * swelling of the feet or hands * unusual weight gain * chest pain * slow, irregular heartbeat

Sometimes they have to catch it when it happens..and it doesn't always happen when they are testing...

How much caffeine do you drink every day? Can you cut down or eliminate caffeine and see if that helps??
