I just located a list of the "bad" products. FYI: The Body Shop is now owned by L'Oreal.
The ‘Bad’ List
The following companies either openly use animal-tested chemicals, or fail to demonstrate that the finished product and the ingredients they use have not been tested on animals since a fixed cut-off date.
COMPANIES TO BOYCOTT
Beiersdorf
The Body Shop/L’Oreal+
Chanel
Christion Dior
Clinique
Colgate Palmolive
Coty
Ecover*
Estée Lauder
FCUK
Garnier
Givenchy
GlaxoSmithKline
Helena Rubenstein
Jeyes
Johnson & Johnson
Lancome
Lever Fabergé
L’Oreal/Nestlé
Miners Cosmetics
PZ Cussons
Reckitt Benckiser
Revlon
SC Johnson
Virgin Vie
Yardley
Yves Rocher
Yves Saint Laurent
Unilever
+ The Body Shop are now owned by L’Oreal/Nestlé.
* Ecover do not have a FCOD, they follow the ‘5 year rolling rule’, which is why they feature on the ‘bad’ list.
You can go to the PETA site and download or send for an important document: PETA's Cruelty-Free Pocket Shopping Guide
Products can even be ordered from the PETA Mall.

Lucky for us, there are plenty of brands that do not test on animals anymore. The cheapest brand that I know that does not test on animals is AVON. AVON, I believe, was one of the first brands of makeup to stop testing long before other brands stopped. Other companies, particularly owned by Estee Lauder (such as MAC, Clinique, Origins etc.) do not test on animals whatsoever. Another brand that is very well known for not testing on animals is Urban Decay. Urban Decay is a completely vegan brand who pledge to never test on animals (not even their makeup brushes are made from real hair). One of the best ways to know if a brand tests or doesn't test on animals is by checking online. PETA ( People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has a list of brands and companies that do not test on animals, and they also have a list of companies that do as well. I hope this helped hun!

Kiss My Face makes an awesome line. It's much cheaper than most vegan/vegetarian cosmetics and they offer a full line from lotions to lipstick, etc.
I bought some and I'm hooked! The lotion works WAY better on my SEVERELY dry skin than the Vaseline brand I was buying before. I also got their tinted moisturizer (like a concealer) and it covers as good or better than your typical name-brand concealers. It also really evened out my skin tone to where I hardly ever need to wear it anyway!
They sell it direct from their site (www.kissmyface.com) but I actually got it cheaper at my local co-op. Not all their stuff is vegan, but it is all vegetarian. A few products use honey or milk.
Oh... and PETA has a list on their site of cruelty free cosmetic & personal care companies. Almay is one of the national brands that doesn't test on animals... but that doesn't mean there isn't animal products IN it (I don't know if there is or not... but there could be).

I use a few different brands. Zuzu Luxe, Zia, Lavera, and Ecco Bella. You can find them at health food shops and supermarkets like Whole Foods and Wild Oats. Some of Ecco Bella's blushes and lip colors contain carmine. Since they use the same labels for all of the blushes, they all say they contain carmine, but only certain colors do. You can find out which ones along with other vegan brands of makeup, soaps, and deodorants at these sites below. A big brand in the UK is Beauty Without Cruelty for makeup and Lush for everything else. :-)
