On the other hand, I've been taking Metformin for about 4 years and have had no leg cramps whatsoever. But then, I walk every day for at least a half hour, keep my sugar and weight down, and stick to a low carb, no sugar diet. This might have something to do with your problem since cramps are not listed, anywhere that I could find, as a side effect to taking Metformin.

I have the equal difficulty, I suspect from taxol (a variety of chemo). The cramps are terrible, your spouse has my sympathy. When they arrive the one factor to do is to take a look at to stroll them off, of direction whilst I've walked them off I'm wide awake and the night time's sleep is shot. I take potassium and magnesium, which turns out to support somewhat. Another factor that turns out to support is a foot tub. I have this Dr. Scholl's factor that has a heater and massager. I positioned a few scorching water and epsom salts in it and soak my toes for half-hour or so, generally with the therapeutic massage function. If I do that proper earlier than going to mattress I am much less prone to have leg cramps - I don't have any inspiration why this will have to be. It's quite often valued at a take a look at, it is not an highly-priced device however you would take a look at only a basin of water and spot if it is helping. Good good fortune I'll be looking this question.

Great question. I, too was on those drugs for a while, and I also had severe leg cramps(muscle spasms.) And come to think of it, I haven't had any cramps at all since getting off of the oral meds. I take insulin now. I didn't put the cramps with the meds until your post.

Possible.
However, you should check with a doctor about your circulation. pain in the calf area when your legs are level with the body that goes away when your legs are placed under your heart (when you go from laying down to standing up) could be a sign of circulation problems.

I am taking Metaformin for PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome) and since I started taking it...my legs feel very restless and they ache...even when I walk...or dont walk...either way I still get the feelings in my legs.
