The no carbs diet:
100% ethanol (or any 200 proof alcohol.)
Vegetable oil or shortening.
water
None of that nasty protein either.
(I would only advise those I disliked to try this diet.)

You're right! It would be virtually impossible to eliminate carbs from your diet. All green plants produce carbohydrates. The problem now-a-days is that almost everything that we eat is "enriched." Anything containing flour (whether it says whole wheat or not) is made with enriched flour. This means that the bran and the germ have been separated from the wheat removing the bulk of the nutrients (see sources for more info.). The best thing to do is not eliminate carbs, but to eat foods that have not been refined. This may seem like a daunting task as refined white sugar and refined white flour are in everything. However, if you are truly concerned about your health and the health of the ones that you love, I highly recommend the cookbook Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon or this article to start: http://www.westonaprice.org/modernfood/wheatyindiscretions.html
Good luck!

I personally think it's a bad diet. Of course we shouldnt eat TOO much carbs, or too much of anything else, but I've seen Atkins addicts that live only on greasy meat and feel smart about it, because they're losing weight. (even though it wont save them from a heart attack, but I guess being thin is more important than being healthy?)
Like the previous poster commented, once you go back to a "normal" diet those kilos come back. (and then some extra) I also heard of diets where you have to live only on yoghurt, or similar and nothing else. That just cant be healthy. To many people a change of diet always means starvation. It's not natural for a body to starve.
I'm on a vegan diet and I exercise. I *never* starve, I eat tasty food and yet I'm not overweight.

We need carbohydrates for fuel, never eliminate them. Besides, the brain ONLY uses carbohydrates as fuel, so if you eliminate carbs, you are not feeding your brain at all.
I attempted a very strict diet some years ago, and in preparation for it, I had to do 3 days of high fat and protein and low carbs, followed by 3 days of 100% lean protein and 0% carbs. I couldn't get past the 2nd of the 100% protein days. I felt so weak and foggy brained and bad altogether. At the time, I was visiting my mom in the hospital, and she was more concerned about me than she was about herself. She even told the Dr what I was doing, which was trying to get my body into a state of ketosis. The Dr said, "Why do you want to do that? Ketosis is the body's starvation stage. It's dangerous." He said it with the tone in his voice as if I was stupid, because putting one's self into a state of ketosis really a stupid thing.
Anyway, I went downstairs to the cafeteria and ordered some split pea soup and vegetables. I ate, then went back upstairs. Just 10-15 minutes after eating, I felt MUUUUCH better! I had energy, could think more clearly, and basically brightened up.
Good carbs are a good thing, God put them here for us to eat.

I don't know about No carbs... but the most famous is the Atkin's Diet which bill's itself as a Low carb diet.
The beginning phase of the diet is restricted to 20 grams of carbs per day (not including fiber). So some carbs are allowed, but very little.

The no carbs diet is the Eskimo Diet... Just raw fermented fish and whale/seals/crabs. This is because there are no carbohydrates in meat.
Protein can be converted into carbohydrates. (Chances are that the person below me was eating a cooked diet... Traditional Eskimo's do not cook any food)

well yeah there are LOW carb diets...but you're right, most everything has at least some carbs in it.
i think it's a stupid diet. i mean, granted people lose weight on it, fast, but it's bad for you..and most people i know who went on it gain it back after they start eating normally (eating low carb is not normal)
