Thrush (yeast infection) is not always caused by sex.

Taking antibiotics (for other infections, ex: strep throat) can cause yeast infections. Antibiotics are to blame for a lot of yeast infections.

Having a yeast infection doesn't mean your girlfriend is cheating. Women develop yeast infections all the time. It's just an imbalance of "good" bacteria and "bad" bacteria in the vagina. I've read 75% of women will have at least one yeast infection in their life time.

All she needs to do is visit her doctor and get some anti fungal medication like fluconazole (brand name: Diflucan) or she can go to the local drug store and get some medication like Monistat.

Technically, "thrush" is a yeast infection which isn't a sexually transmitted disease but rather an imbalance of healthy/unhealthy bacteria -or overgrowth of yeast. Virtually every woman gets yeast infections at some point. Typically, they are triggered by hormonal changes, over-douching, diet, etc. If your girlfriend has a true yeast infection, it is not an indication of her cheating on you. HOWEVER... many conditions that ARE considered to be caused by sexual transmission are very similar and often confused with yeast infections. These infections are, as a rule, caused by bacteria- not yeast and while not all bacterial vaginal infections start by sexual transmission, a MAJORITY of them, from what I've read, are. Common infections (sometimes referred to as Vaginitis) include Chlamydia and Trichonosis (not sure if I spelled those right or not). There is an over the counter test that I saw at a local pharmacy the other day- can't remember what it's called but it cost about $8 that claims to be able to tell if a person's infection is yeast or something else and should therefore be treated by a doctor.
Hope this info helps you some.
