Sorry if this is "TMI" but here's the deal...I found a lump under my skin near my bikini line earlier in the week and went to the doctor to get it checked out. She said it was either a bacterial infection (I do shave and it's most likely that I used a dirty blade that infected me underneath my skin). She mentioned that it could be an STD as well...not likely, but possible. The only possible way it could be an STD would be from 6 months ago but we used a condom and he is insisting he has no STD. There's never been a rash or other symptoms. I am just wondering if anyone has experienced this or has more information about this. I am scared that a one time thing may come back to haunt me half a year later.....

Your doctor must like to stress out.

There are many bacteria that can causes lumps and bumps -- including plain old cysts, ingrown hairs and so on.

A bikini line or any place where fabric rubs against the skin will cause these too. Clothing that is tight can cause ingrown hair even if you don't shave. Rubbing of loose or tight clothing can lead to minor lumps and infections.

Some people are just more easily prone to such things.
