Just had blood work due to lightheadedness, was told increase in anxiety issues (attacks), also have mitral valve prolapse, blood pressure 100/60. Noticed that the doctor said blood work was perfectly fine, but didn't think to check thyroid, diabetes, HepABC, HIV or even urine sample to see if that causes the feelings of lightheadedness or blackouts. Just wondering if that's because there were nothing wrong with the white blood cells and red blood cells. Only happens when I sit too long or stand too long or in crowds sometimes. My husband seems to think it's my MVP, leaking valve causing low blood flow. Please help!

I am feeling sorry to write that you are facing symptoms of MVP, and you should not worry about other tests.
This topic will help you to understand your symptoms:

History:

* MVP usually is asymptomatic, nonprogressive, and benign.

* Palpitations occur in 40% of MVP cases. This percentage excludes palpitations due to withdrawal syndromes (eg, alcohol, sedatives), intoxications (eg, cocaine, amphetamine, phencyclidine), or medication exposures (eg, caffeine, sympathomimetic, anticholinergic).

* Chest pain and dyspnea previously were considered part of the MVP syndrome, but they are now felt to be no more common in cases of MVP than they are in the general population.

* Although controversial, anxiety and panic disorders may be more common in patients with MVP than the general population.

* Fatigue

* Syncope/presyncope

* Orthostasis

Get yourself checked out by your consultant as early as possible as there is no time to loose.

no even if there is HIV or any form of hep on the blood you will not be infected because this are blood borne diseases so that unless you have an open wound that has touched that blood, you are safe most especially if you have complete vaccinations against all forms of hep then you are completely fine. HIV is only contagious while blood is fresh will that is already dried blood in there buddy. however, have your car seat changed if that is possible (im not very knowledgeable with cars) but you will have to get rid of that blood stain at all cost. relax. :-)

I'm willing to bet that the lightheadedness is from anxiety. Maybe you are so freaked out over having heart problems that you are unconsciously causing yourself to feel dizzy. I used to have extreme anxiety and Iwould feel dizzy, then I would start thinking "Oh my God, I'm going to faint, I'm going to have a heart attack!!" I would get myself in this big tizzy over nothing. Just try to take care of yourself, and if you are worried about AIDS etc ask the dr to check these things. I would think that if you had one of those diseases something would show up in your blood work.

I don't know about the others, but I know that HIV testing isn't part of a routine blook screen and that diabetes can't be positively determined or ruled out with a regular blood test. However, your blood sugar must have been normal or they would have wanted additional testing.

Two other things to consider. One is that you are needing to increase you salt intake. You might also consider having a tilt test. (you are placed on a table and rotated, while your blood pressure is monitored)
