It can be.
Cold sores are typically caused by herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV1), but they can also be caused by herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV2), which is usually genital herpes.
Both HSV1 and HSV2 can cause BOTH cold sores and/or genital herpes on a person.
If a person gives a person with genital herpes oral sex, it's possible for them to develop cold sores caused by HSV2 (usually genital herpes).
It's also possible for a person with cold sores to give another person genital herpes caused by HSV1 if they give them oral sex.
I personally have had genital herpes for 6 years. My genital herpes is caused by HSV1, which is usually cold sores. So, it's definitely possible for it to go the other way too (cold sores caused by HSV2)!

It used to be that herpes simplex I was the type that caused cold sores, and that herpes simplex II was the type that caused genital herpes infections, but that's not necessarily the case anymore. All it takes it to have oral sex with an infected person and you could end up with a Herpes simplex I infection of the genitalia or a herpes simplex II infection of the oral area.
So, to answer your question - could be.

I got identified with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about five years ago, while I was still attending college and had a silly one-night stand. I realize loads of young ladies will declare this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and all of a sudden I felt like I was going to have to live with the implications for the rest of my life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with a girl who has sores round her private parts? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/kDX13 everything got better.
Not only was I able to eliminate all remnants of the hsv from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to start dating once more. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so fortunate to write that just a week ago, in front of everyone in a crowded cafe, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This program provided me the opportunity to be happy and experience true love. Now I want to help you too by sharing this with the whole World.

Not exactly. Mouth cold sores are generally herpes simplex virus I. But they are pretty similar, and it is possible to have an oral infection of HSV II or a genital infection of HSVI. And they do respond to the same drug treatments.

HSV 1 and 2 are virtually identical using electron microscopy. They share much of the same genetic structure as well. The difference is where they generally establish "residence" in neurons in the ganglia and hence the geographic location in which they recur. For HSV1, its typically the trigeminal ganglion. For HSV2, sacral ganglion. But this isnt absolute and either can infect ANY WHERE on the body; not just oral/genital regions. Contrary to popular belief, type 2 is generally much less severe and more difficult to transmit than type 1.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.

Maybe. Cold sores can be caused by both HSV1 and HSV2, but they are most commonly caused by HSV1 which is carried by about 90% of the population. See the resource below to read more about HSV1 vs. HSV2.

these are two different viruses. dont let anyone tell you that you can get herpes from the mouth to the genitals or vice versa. they are two different viruses and have very little to do with each other.
