Hi, I'm a C.N.A. your heart rate, or pulse rate should or the average rate for an adult is between 60 and 84 beats per minute. If you are scared or had just ran up a flight of stairs it would cause it to go up. Mine is about 120 to 160 and I don't anything to make it go high and my Dr. doesn't seem too worryed about it. I do at times. If your is higher then normal check with your Dr. and see what the problem might be it could be nothing. Better safe then sorry .

normal heart rate for anyone is between 54 and 74. It fluctuates If you are doing a lot of sports your heart rate is lower. If you are a very sedatary person your heart rate is higher. When exercising your heart rate should not go over 160 and should come down to an acceptable lever in a minute.
