Some people have herpes and never get an outbreak and some people can go for several years and never experience an outbreak.
Most people get their first outbreak pretty soon after being exposed to the virus. I have my first genital herpes outbreak about a week and 1/2 after I had sex with a guy who had the virus (he didn't tell me he had it).
So, it's possible, just not super common though.

I've had herpes for 5yrs now and honestly I've only had like 5 outbreaks, 1 a yr. So, I am sure there are people that dont get any outbreaks or they do and they mistaken it with a pimple. I don't know about 9yrs thats a long time but, then again anything is possible. Good luck!

Cold sores are caused by the herpes virus. Many of us already have the cold sore virus dormant in our bodies, and never have a flare up of cold sores. We contracted it as children, as it is a very common virus, and children pick it up easily as they often share food and drinks, and may be less concerned about hand washing and hygiene. Cold sores can be transmitted even when the person does not have a cold sore, though it is less likely to happen then.
remember that you can remove genital warts by surgery, freezing, laser, acid or cream but genital warts can reappear again and again because genital warts appears when your immune system is weak!
I got diagnosed with herpes type 2 about seven years ago, when I was still in college and had a stupid one-night stand. However, Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes virus from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to start dating again!

Honestly you can carry the virus for your whole life .. be asyptomatic.. meaning u have no symptoms and still have the virus... but usually takes abouut anywhere from 3 months to 10 years for the virus to beome active and degrade your body slowly but surely ... which means is you have any suspicion of having the virus... you should get checked immediately!! that way if you have the virus the living with the virus could be somewhat easier.. if you had not detected it earlier.

You can carry the herpes simplex forever, as there is no cure. You may not ever be active (the blisters), but you could be passing it around. Your "active" phase could have involved you having a slight temp or a cold - you might not ever have a blister. A carrier is still a carrier and you can infect others is having unprotected sex.

Most likely no,but that does not neccessarily mean it cant happen. It could be that you may have had an outbreak before but it was not as serious as the one now.I would look back @ 6 months or less. That should give you a pretty good idea, but def. check with a doctor.Good Luck.
