I'm sure it can hinder your sex life. A lot of women seem to feel "dirty" or "damaged" after they find out they have HPV or another STD. This can kind of cause a mental block like they "aren't good enough", which can have negative effects on a persons sex life or a couples sex life.

I think it all just depends on the person and how well they accept having HPV. I personally have had HPV for 6 years. Even though I was shocked when I was first diagnosed, I've learned that life goes on! HPV is extremely common and there are plenty of guys (and girls) that can look past HPV and look at a person for who they are, not what they have. I have a wonderful relationship and a great sex life with my fiance. We couldn't be happier.

And yes, it can, and does cause cervical cancer for some women. About 10,000 women were diagnosed with cervical cancer in the US in 2006. Of those 10,000 women, about 4,000 of them will die from it. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer with my HPV when I was 17 years old. Luckily I caught it early and didn't have to have a hysterectomy or die from it! That is why annual pap smears are SO important for sexually active women, especially if they have been diagnosed with HPV. Pap smears are the best thing a woman can get to detect any early signs of cervical cancer, like abnormal cells on the cervix.

I have both Herpes and HPV. Got it from my current bf. And honestly it doesn't affect are sex life because he also has it and I've felt before more dirty that I have Herpes than having HPV. I guess I don't feel that HPV really does interrupt our sexual life just because I don't get anything, until now. Thank god!. I know some woman get Genital Warts and that might be a problem. Then again if I was to be single and go out there and find someone then YES it would be a big problem because I wouldn't just sleep with anyone and pass on the virus. I would always make it a choice for the other person
on whether or not they want to get intimate. Yes, HPV does cause cervical cancer. In 2002 I had pre-cancerous cells removed that were from the HPV. Please protect yourself and always be honest with your partners.

I have had hpv for 11 years now. My sex life has never had a negative outcome. I'm in a stable relationship, only have had 2 outbreaks at the beginning of my disease, and my hubby has never contracted hpv. I have the strain that causes warts, and I was in for 2 treatments for cervical pre-cancer. My fiance is loving and supportive and our sex life has been FABULOUS from the very beginning.
