I'm making tamales to serve tonight. I've fallowed my mother in laws recipe to the T. or so I thought. They have been steaming for an hour and 45 min. and are not cooking. They are just getting soggy and falling apart. What should I do? Please help!!!!

Let them steam but take one out every once in a while and let it cool down after about 5 or ten minutes it should cool and the masa will not stick to the corn husk, just give them time and enjoy!!!

Set them to bake at 375 in the middle rack for 15-20 mins, check and leave a little longer if they are not to your liking, then pop back in for 5 mins before you serve.
Sounds GOOD, but if I followed my mother-in-laws recipees, I would be doomed, you're lucky.
NOW GET OFF THE COMPUTER AND ENJOY A DRINK!!!

If you wrapped them properly in corn husks, they should be done. A little soggy is not bad. Cool slightly before unwrapping from husk.

Please remember that tamales are cooked even though they are soft and not browned. Your tamales are probably cooked and you simply need to take them out of the steamer.
