For some people their immune system is able to "fight off" the virus. It's not technically a cure because it doesn't involve drugs or other methods, like most illnesses are considered cured (for example: chlamydia being cured with antibiotics). Some people will always have HPV though. Since there is no cure, some people will never get rid of it and will have it their entire life.
But, if a person gets rid of the virus on their own than that means it's gone. They won't get cancer or warts from it. But, just because a person may have got rid of it, doesn't nessicarily mean they will never get it again or that they are now "imunne" to it. A person can always contract HPV again.

As HPV is a virus, you cannot cure it. But the wart will be gone. I am pretty much certain the chance of cervical cancer is still the increased range.
To save me a little bit of time, and you a fair bit of understanding the link I have provided will answer all of your questions. It is a government website dedicated to the STD Human Papillomavirus Infection.
Personally I hope your asking for research for a health class paper, and not because you have it yourself.

Your immune system learns to supress the virus not necessarily making it go away but some medical statistics indicate that your immune system will fight off the virus between 6months-2 years.
Keeping your immune system strong by exercise, vitamins, eating right and keeping up your yearly/6 months follow up pap with your doctor.
NOTE: the flu is also a virus and your immune system learns to surpress it and your all better.
HPV is not a big deal as long as you and your doctor see each other often.

this is controversial, but here's what i know- you CAN clear the virus to the point where very, very sensitive DNA tests can't pick it up. they don't know if that means it is totally gone from your body or just in deep remission, but it can be undetectable. i read that for young, healthy women, it is usually undetectable (after treatment) within 2 years.
i had level 3 cervical dysplasia from HPV 6 months ago. at 3 months i got tested and was totally clear. now at 6 months i'm going to get tested again, and hope to be clear. i'll follow my MD's advice from there on how to conduct my sex life, but i know for sure i'll be more careful about who i sleep with and always use condoms.
so the short answer is yes, they think you can get rid of it.
