I recently asked a very valid question about my cholesterol level and I got some wacked out answers. Why am I getting insulted over a question. My question was, how low is too low for cholesterol levels, and some guy is trying to tell me to cut all fat from my diet. I did that, and now my cholesterol is below 100, did he even read my question? Is that too low? There is evidence that low cholesterol can bring on depression and anxiety. So how can I bring my cholesterol up, WITHOUT binging on processed, fatty foods? Seems like a totally reasonable question.

I dont think the guy that answered you gave a whacked or insulting answer, I really think he was trying to help, but maybe he didnt quite understand your questions, there are several questions bundled into one, and that sometimes makes the question harder to understand.

Also, do you have bad cholesterol known as LDLs (low-density lipoproteins), or good cholesterol, or HDLs (high-density lipoproteins)??

Some research suggests that very low cholesterol levels may be associated with an increased risk of death in people with cancer. However, there is no evidence that a low cholesterol level causes cancer. Low cholesterol levels may also be associated with depression and anxiety. Some scientists believe that very low cholesterol may reduce serotonin levels in the brain.

So, how low is "too low"? It depends on the individual. A newborn has a low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol level of 30 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) and develops normally at this level. People who eat low-fat, low-cholesterol diets may have an LDL cholesterol level between 40 and 50 mg/dL and a total cholesterol level of 100 mg/dL — and they do just fine.

In general, you want your total cholesterol level to be less than 200 mg/dL and your LDL cholesterol level to be below 100 mg/dL.

If there was something abnormal about your cholesterol results, then whomever ordered the test would advise you what should be done to remedy the situation.
