Its the best idea to get a HIV test done, someone can be a carrier of the infection without displaying infection for years at a time.

Whenever in doubt--always use a condom.

Hi there,

No diagnostic test will ever be 100% reliable, but if your friend's husband tested negative at the appropriate time (i.e., 13 weeks after possible exposure to the virus), you can consider that to be a dependable confirmation that he is HIV negative. And if he reliably does not have HIV then he can not pass it on to her: he has nothing to pass on. She is fine and has no need to test unless she wants to know her own status for certain as a means of providing peace of mind.

Cheers.

if his test was negative and she has had no sexual partners for more than five years, there is no reason for her to be tested.
