It's amazing that anyone still believes that myth. According to noted chef and cookbook author Dion Lucas, his favorite foods were stuffed squab (a type of bird) and sausage.

Hitler suffered from digestive problems, and was advised by his physician to avoid eating meat, an injunction he didn't follow for long. His spin doctors, however, propagated the story that he was vegetarian, in order to convey the impression that he was pacifistic and humane.

Albert Einstein, Pythagoras, Tolstoy and Gandhi were all vegetarians though.

Seriously? You're referencing a wikipedia article that is referencing out of date info? Seriously?! Anybody with a computer can edit a wikipedia entry, and judging from some of the answers and questions on this site, I'm not impressed.

Hitler was never a vegetarian for any significant period of time, and even when he was, some of his favorite foods included meat. Just cause someone says they're a vegetarian, doesn't mean they are one. Even if he had been a vegetarian, so what? George W. Bush claims to be a Christian--doesn't mean he behaves like one!

Hitler was NOT vegetarian and even if I would give a ****! I don't care, it's my life and I live my choosen lifestyle.

I found that on the website of Peta:
“Wasn’t Hitler in favor of animal rights?”

Although the Nazis claimed to pass an anti-vivisection bill, they did not. In fact, they were required by law to perform experiments on animals before carrying them out on humans. Experiments on humans did not replace animal experiments; on the contrary, animal experiments made them possible. In The Dark Face of Science, John Vyvyan summed it up correctly, “The experiments made on prisoners were many and diverse, but they had one thing in common: All were in continuation of, or complementary to experiments on animals. In every instance, this antecedent scientific literature is mentioned in the evidence; and at Buchenwald and Auschwitz concentration camps, human and animal experiments were carried out simultaneously as parts of a single programme.”

However, even if this weren’t the case, the merits of an idea cannot be determined by the character of its proponents. If Hitler believed in evolution, would that mean that we should not believe in evolution? What if Gandhi also believed in evolution? How would we reconcile the two? An idea must be judged on its own merits.

For more information on this topic, we recommend the book Hitler: Neither Vegetarian nor Animal Lover by Rynn Berry, available here.

I know what I say, I'm Russian-German and in history lesson we talk about the "3. Reich" and about Hitler. It's really shocking. Greetings from Germany cuchara

HAHA who cares what he ate... Let's see something...

We should compare... all the "infamous" crazy people like Hitler... IF Hitler was a vegetarian(I don't research these things cause first-of-all I don't care, second, Most of the things we are told are lies and exaggerations of the truth) Anyway... IF he was... I don't think that that means anything... There were more meat- eating crazies in the past, then vegetarian crazies... You can't win this fight because statistically there were and are more meat-eaters in the world than there are vegetarians... So naturally there have been more evil meat-eaters than evil vegetarians... You can't win... cause I could name thousands of "EVIL" meat-eaters... and probably only a handful of "EVIL" vegetarians.

So have fun looking up pointless myths like that....

Now this one is just fun…
Because using the same logic as you are, Greed 2.0, then you’ve also proved that Christians are evil as well!
Now we coooould limit it, to just the Catholics since Hitler was born a Catholic – He was raised as an alter boy and wanted to be a priest, btw– but I figure why not expand it to cover all Christians – or hey! Why not all Males?

Yep, we now have proof that all Vegetarians, all Males and all Christians are evil – since Hitler was a Vegetarian, a Male and a Christian.

Sure there are questions as to whether he was really a vegetarian, or really still a Christian (although he sporadically claimed it in his speeches) but I think we should definitely spread the word and give you all the credit for your amazing intellect.

Now, who said meat-eaters were idiots?

As Matt H., Kit Kat, and Max Marie have
stated Hitler was not a vegetarian.
If you want another example of an evil meat
eater besides George W. Bush look no
further than his totie. After tricky Dick shot
his attorney friend while hunting he was quoted
saying, " Real men don't apologize".

If you wanna join these guys for a barbecue
go ahead, but bring a bullet proof vest.

Hitler was a vegetarian for health reasons, eating meat caused severe pain in his abdomen. He would often try a piece only to feel the intense pain again.

So, in reality Hitler was not a vegetarian, because he would often try to small amounts of meat. Don't believe everything you hear, do some research you will always come across as more intelligent.

Clutching at straws there aren't you?

Hitler was also a man. Does that mean all men are evil?
He was German. Does that mean all Germans were evil?

Your argument isn't only moot; it's ridiculous too.

By-the-way, how was Hitler a "self richeous (sic) hipp[y]"?

Lastly, learn to spell.

First of all there is many reasons historically to refute the idea that Hitler was a vegetarian.
Second, almost all of the worst people in the world are/ were meat eaters. Take George W. Bush for example.

It is apparent you did not read and /or understand the site you quoted for your argument ..I QUOTE ' Most of Adolf Hitler's biographers assert (believe) that he was a vegetarian from 1931 until his death in 1945 .... The confusion around Hitler's vegetarianism is likely due to his frequent dietary modifications where his meat consumption was reduced though not eliminated entirely...According to author Rynn Berry, although at various times Hitler reduced the amount of meat in his diet, he never stopped eating meat completely for any significant length of time "............ hence he was not a vegetarian and did not even reduce his consumption for the Love of animals .. he reduced it because he was advised to by his doctors for health reasons .. but even if he was ....... so what ? Do you honestly wish to compare vegetarians to Hitler? Sounds like a very poor excuse by someone trying to right a wrong in their own mind ...
