My baby's father said he has not been with anyone but me since then and i have had sex with one person however we used a condom. What are the chances i can be infected. If you got tested in february and you are getting tested again, there is a chance you are fine. However, HIV antibodies do not show up in the body until after 6 months from when you got tested if the first time you got tested was around the time you had unproteccted sex. If it has been a while since you had unprotected sex, then you're fine. If something comes back positive, I wouldn't worry too much because there is only a 23% chance your baby will be born with HIV, and that's if you do not take any meds. So, don't worry and congratualtions on being a new momma

I think you are worrying to much believe it or not not everyone in the world carries the disease I'm sure you and your baby will be fine one quick piece of advice from a Doctor be more cautious with your sexual habits if you are so concerned about getting HIV/AIDS especially now that you are having a baby.

Although I believe your circumstances are highly unlikely that you would test positive for HIV, I did want to comment on the statement made regarding that if your are HIV positive that your baby for sure is positive than also. Although I am unsure of the process/procedure, I have read in POZ magazine of HIV+ mothers who give birth to children who are HIV-. I recommend checking out POZ.com for further information. Hope that makes you worry a bit less....

Condoms break and can also be used ineffectively.

Why anyone is willing to risk their own health and that of their children is beyond me.

You didn't offer a time frame, however, you could be positive but not have developed enough antibodies to produce a positive result on a test.

It is very responsible of you to be so concerned!

High risk persons for HIV are asked to re-test every six months.

You need to be tested again IF you had sex with the other person AFTER your last test in Feb. You will not really 'know for sure' until six months from this date.

IF you had sex with the other partner BEFORE your test in Feb, you will know for certain in August.

Ask you doc if he can do in invetro test for the babe, if you are really worried.

And no, not all babies are born with HIV. There are medical procedures to prevent this, so again, very responsible of you at this stage.
