Masturbation is safe. It's safe from STDs and relationship drama. Some people have cultural and religious objections to it. But otherwise, there's no better way to relieve the frustration and get to know your own body better than to enjoy yourself "firsthand."
ADDENDUM: Personally, I have found that keeping up a vigorous exercise routine takes the edge off my own libido, so I don't get very frustated anyway. But I think masturbation is great for anyone who can enjoy it guiltlessly. And for those who may object, I think they should really think hard about their reasons for thinking it's "dirty."

Hi there,
Frankly you can't. You have an itch and either you scratch it or ignore it till it goes away. So, if you are not going to scratch you can do things to try to take your mind off it: exercise, go for a walk, cold showers help for some people. Remember, you are dealing with innate urges which can be difficult to turn off. As Gumdrop already mentioned, masturabation is probably your best alternative to providing "relief" as long as you do not have any moral/religious objections to it; if you are looking to ignore keep your mind and body busy by doing things that you enjoy. I'll assume that it gets easier to ignore those cues as time passes.
Cheers.

Have you tried cold showers? I've been sexless for a while and it is tough. A nice bottle of wine chasing a couple sleeping pills do it for me . Good luck.
