Dave almost got it right and got a TU from me. Most of the "organic" stuff was taken over by mega-corps years ago! USDA "organic" standards are so weak as to be meaningless. I've recently seen a privately prepared chart that shows much more ownership detail than this old one:
http://www.certifiedorganic.bc.ca/rcbtoa/services/corporate-ownership.html
This link shows the stuff that an "organic" producer can use on his crops and KEEP the pesticide free, "organic" label:
http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/biopesticides/ingredients/index.htm
Organic died a quiet death when the USDA wrote their standards based on corporate input. The only thing the word means anymore is automatic higher profit margins.

The corporations will win... they're all jumping on the Organic bandwagon.
I don't know if you've noticed a lot of "mainstream" products are now claiming to be organic. I'm kind of worried that they'll ruin the term Organic, but if they follow the USDA guidelines, then that's good and we all win if the products are all truly Organic, but I get a lingering sense that the corperation's will push for a loosening of the guidlines (since their main goal is profit and it will be less expensive for the companies in the long run) while the small time organic farmers are here to make a difference (for the better, of course) for all us.
In our health conscious society, these are the same coperations that put the words "Low Fat or No Trans Fats" on bags of candy. Yes, it's low fat, but is it healthy??? If the corperations had their way, they'd probably put "Low Fat or No Trans Fats" on a bag of sugar in order to boost sales with the implication that a bag of sugar is a healthy choice.

This question denotes that there are two opposing perspectives, and the people who maintain those perspectives are at war, in a conflict that only one can win. It also denotes that the two opposing perspectives are absolute extremes, with no room for grey middle ground.
This couldn't be further from the truth.
There is not a single corporation on Earth that actually exists. It is all a figment of the imagination of the people that cooperate together under the guise of a unified trading name, a team working together for a common goal. That goal is profit and power, and the collective is pathologically fixated on achieving it's criminally insane goal. That doesn't make it evil, just mentally ill. No one person is soley responsible for the actions of the collective, but all persons are partly responsible. The persons with the greatest responsibility are the consumers and the stock investers.
The consumers of non-organic products are using their money to indicate to the entire chain from invester to consumer that that product is worthy of the time and money that goes into creating that product, so the business continues to operate. If consumers stopped buying, the business would stop selling. Likewise, if investers stopped investing, the business would stop profiteering.
Almost all of the organic produce created in the world today is created by cooperatives of people, including corporations, and works on precisely the same priciples as the non-organic businesses. Each business exists to feed a market, and is fed by a market. They are one and the same, in essence. There are a wide variety of opinions of what organic means, plus a variety of non-organic but still pretty good opinions available, and each of these varieties has a business that is feeding that market, and being fed by a market. In fact, there is no absolute organic product anywhere in the world, because since the beginning of time all matter has been recycled from something else, organic to inorganic to non-organic and back to organic, or the other way around. All of these markets are being driven by popular demand, so if the world said tomorrow that cars pollute too much, stock prices of manufacturers would plummet, and the price of a new car on the lot would also fall, to accomodate this. This is because there will always be people behind those guises, and people buying stocks and products, and the people who really win.
So lets recap in brief:
There is one perspective, and the people who maintain that perspective are the financial beneficiaries, in a cooperation that everyone can win. The one perspective is only made up of grey middle ground, comprising many variations and opinions and perceptions.
Need more proof? consider the fact that right now, you can choose to agree, or disagree; accept, counter-argue or ignore; and consider the opinions of other answerers before me, or consider other answerers opinions of this answer to come after me. You have supreme power to choose what and how to think about what you are reading right this second, and you can be sure it is different, atleast slightly, to something else you have read here. You are an individual, and that is your right. So go forth now, and be yourself, be unique. For God's sake, just BE!

Dave C's answer is quite prophetic. I believe there will always be a small remnant of genuine and ecologically agriculture, however it is up to us to vote with our dollars. All to often we buy the perceived less expensive and or convenient instead of sacrificing a bit to do the right thing.
If you remember one thing from this post may it be vote with your dollars for it makes more difference than your electoral vote.
Remember, vote with your dollars.
