not dangerous but quite expensive

Wagyu beef is a Japanese beef raised under extremely strict standards. It is better known as Kobe beef, and is extremely prized, also quite expensive! It is gaining popularity in the US, and is usually found now at your higher-end restaurants. When you see or hear of restaurants serving $100.00 burgers - those are usually Kobe burgers. (which by the way, is really stupid way to try Kobe beef). I don't think this meat would have the reputation that it does if it was at all considered dangerous!

Dangerous in what sense?

I'd be more worried with Canadian and American beef since they've found cattle with Mad Cow.

The Japanese are very stringent with their food quality.

Uh-uh. No way. Japanese and other Asians are picky about quality when it comes to stuff they eat. Thats why the Jap. gov. put a stop on beef imports fr. U.S. after the BSE incident.

"Which kind of steak would you like madam - "cloned", or "natural"?"

I'd stick to "natural". The moment humans try to be too clever, us guinea-pig consumers are left with a host of heath dangers a couple of decades later - by which time the industry would have made kebillion washington.

No siree bob. Gimme good old fashioned beefsteak anytime, all the time.

No, of course not. It is very very delicious but very, very costly.
The Kobe beef, or the Matsuzakaya beef, is very special. It is very expensive. But if you get a chance , do enjoy it.

I've never had a problem with it, eaten kobe raw alot when I worked in a restraunt, just put a little salt on a slice of raw kobe and its heaven. Otherwise, just a little sear.
