Yes. Some STDs are latent and do not show signs until many years later. For example, one could be infected with herpes and some show first symptoms within 10 days, some in a few years, and some will never show symptoms.

Also, some STDs are not curable and show sporadic outbreaks throughout life (herpes). If the STD was bacterial (gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia) and medical treatment was administered, these will now show back up unless the person is reinfected by sexual contact again.

The answer to that question is YES--I know a friend that I have known my whole life--she had an STD when we were young and just a couple years ago--being with the same man for 15 years--got it again --her husband didn't have a sign of it, and never had---Some STDS lay dormant for months and even years and then can come back if your resistance gets low for some reason or if you come in contact with that same STD again in any way can trigger a recurrence--hope this helps--good luck

you can get an STD any time, there are no immunities. And if they are treated appropriately they do not "come back". If they are not treated, they never go away, but they can hide in the system for a time, without producing the original symptoms.

Yes, herpes and Genital warts (never goes away). Syphilis was one that could 'hide' in the nerves, but it currently is still mostly curable, so a non-issue (there is antibiotic resistant syphilis). The biggest problem with STDs though is often the damage they have caused and the resulting infertility problems.
