I answer and post in every section of Answers, but this section is the only one where you take constant flak about it if your a meateater, there are some of us who are curious, or can offer sincere advice to people of different cultures (vegan and veg), why do vegans feel the need to thumbs down and get offended at everything meateaters say?

Meat-eaters is the Devil!!
No, just kidding. I guess there are many reasons why you could get thumbed down. I know I've given you thumbs up before when you gave useful answers.

Many meat eaters come here to attack vegetarians, so I think a lot of us are just defensive. Also, thumbs up and down don't tend do be used correctly and some don't like the idea of a meat-eater giving advice on vegetarianism. In some cases they are right, because a lot of these meat eaters are *really* ill-informed on vegetarianism. However, a person should read an answer before deciding if it is quality or not.

You can post anywhere. I think meat eaters receive flak because they often give it. There are many omni's that come on here and either ridicule of give out wrong information.

I don't understand why meat eaters come on and try and talk people out of vegetarianism by giving wrong info, such as the you wont get enough protein/vitamins/minerals/etc., or the food chain crap, and stuff like that. I think it is insulting to people who are vegans/vegetarians who live this life style and are healthy, sometimes even more so then ever.

The other thing that usually gets a thumbs down from me is when meat eaters answer questions for vegetarians, my favorites are when omni's answer with "I'm not vegetarian, but most vegetarians do this" and the answer is wrong! They answer that vegetarians eat fish, or cheese as long as they are not vegan, etc, but they really do not know. I would prefer they answer with what they do know and not what they have heard. Not to say everyone is wrong with the info(which of course does not get thumbs down), but many are.

I thumbs down answers that are wrong, do not contribute to the information(those who answer just to hear themselves), and people who are abusive.

I actually feel bad that you had a bad experience in this area of Y!A. Normally, we veggies are kind, gentle souls....that is, unless someone comes around and makes snide, sarcastic of hurtful comments about our lifestyle.
As long as you're respectful, things should be great. (I'm going out on a limb here to speak for all of us!) We love to have many different opinions to our questions from many different sources. I post in the general food and drink area w/o problems. I even answer questions about meat - my family still eats it, I once ate it - and I share my experiences. Do I tell them they are wrong or silly for eating meat? Of course not. That's their personal choice. If I can truly help someone, then I do.
You can answer here anytime you'd like...even if you don't have a sald for lunch. You can be an honorary vegg head if you'd like. (Don't worry, we won't tell your meat-eating friends!)
Cheers!

It's hard to take someone seriously when they come here just to make fun of us. I dont know how many comments you actually read, but please understand that veganism is a compassionate lifestyle, I dont enjoy hearing about "tasty beef" or whatever animal died to satisfy someones taste buds today. To me it is like talking coldly about murdering humans, or racism, and explaining why it is all natural. I use "thumbs down" only when a poster deserves it.

You are welcome to post here any day, not just when you're having salad. If you want to know more about vegan lifestyle, recipes etc, I will gladly help, and many others will I'm sure.

But if you're going to describe how juicy your steak was, or that pigs taste good, or suggesting to veg*ns that we should eat some meat, you will get thumbs down; People who are looking for sincere advice dont behave like that, coming here just to call us names and make fun of something very important to us vega*ns.

See the usename "Jeff".

Also keep in mind that the question "Can vegetarains et animals crackers?" has been posted at least twice a week here.

When people give out false information it doesn't help the people who seek out advice. The alot of omnivore's think protein is hard to get, which is totally untrue. If you have good input,we don't mind, but when people come on here and answer "eat a steak" it get's annoying.

No one will thumbs down you unless you are trashing us about being vegetarian. If you have something productive to say, then by all means post, but its the ones that come in here calling us crazy, smelly, sickly hippies that get the thumbs down. There are many other catagories for omnivores, and its just frustrating when you are asking something that only like minded people will understand, then having someone pop in a tell us to eat a big juicy steak. Being a vegetarian is more of a lifestyle than diet.

Uh sorry, why don't you get off your high horse for a second. I have no problem (as I'm sure most don't) with people who eat meat to offer advice or to even ask questions. But when I see constant questions like "Can vegetarians eat animal crackers" what does that say about the omnivore visitors? They almost always give wrong information as well. How is someone who is not a vegetarian supposed to give new vegetarians advice? Wouldn't you find that quite hard?

you can post where ever you want.

Come on though... seriously, most of the responses from meat eaters are not helpful, they are rude and unnecessary.

If a meat eater is curious about something, and they ask a question in a way that is not offensive, rude, or just a plain joke(like if we weren't meant to eat animals, then why are they made of meat) Then I have no problem answering their question without being mean to them, But most of the time that is not the case.

I personally don't get offended if a meat eater posts any answers, or questions. I do however get annoyed when they are disrespectful answers, that really are not serving anyone any good. When someone (meat eater or not) posts BS answers and questions, your wasting people's time, and just getting on our nerves. So please be my guest post answers, to any of the categories, as long as you have something constructive to say.

Thanks for the interest!
