I know that stress elevates your blood pressure, but if you are stressed in the morning and things calm down, how long is your blood pressure affected?

In my experience it depends much on age, and nature of work. To be frank once your day starts with stress, than the whole day is affected including your efficacy.
The stress takes it toll, till you are out of that atmosphere, but however residual effect carry out at home, so an anti anxiolytic is required during night sleep.
Some people have their BP down within minutes some take hours and some use anti anxiolytic in office and appear quite normal.
So it depends much on how sensitive is the issue , along with any underlying disease.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

Depends on the person's body, and how intense the stress was. It could be for a shorter period of time or it could be all day. Stress that raises your blood pressure on a regular basis is *very* unhealthy and can lead to life-threatening conditions. Might want to take a look at your life, routine, etc, and ask yourself how you could reduce stress. Simplify your schedule, or take some time out for yourself once a week to relax. Yoga has worked well for me. :)
