ive worked in various indian restaurants on average they earn around £350 a week but bear in mind that most of them work 2 hours in the afternoon and a further 9 hours on a night 5 days a week so if u break it down there hourly rate is quite low

Average chefs of any cuisine don't make a lot of money. Income varies greatly from one region to another.
Only exceptional Chefs bring in big bucks because of their notoriety.

There is no such thing as AVERAGE either they are less than average or over average. So pay accordingly.
